I think, and the future will prove me right or wrong, you will find that rather than SD dying, the incintives for selling CF are quite substantial (reason for that $300 price tag).

Look around, several of the carputer manufacturers are signing agreements with them. From a profit standpoint, it would make little sense not to sign up. Make more money, and not responsible for support? Heck, I don't like CF, but I would sell it.
    My opinion is my own.

How about just a response from SD, a phone number to call for help, and email response to our questions other than "we are working on it" from last year. More detailed status updates to keep us informed that they even exist as a company. It was sold with the promise of future features and i get that part but at lest put an answering machine on the phone # and have a voice message saying Sorry or something. it's just: Ring ring ring ring ring ring bye.

This is all I am going to say on the current situation of SD.

    1. SD is dead? Anyone and everyone could say so and it would no longer be sold or have a website. Is everyone talking? Heck, if anything the CEO would be here immediately telling everyone since he has the most to lose. Has he? Nope, came on and said, if you can read between the lines,"When we can tell you, we will. But for now, trust" (the usual hidden meaning behind "family").

    2. SD will no longer be supported? See #1 and since MP3Car has a vested interest, I would think they would have said this when the decision was made. And while they are waiting for legal reasons, the website and sales ad would have disappeared. Takes 5 minutes to get rid of both.

    3. What could cause "forced silence" by all parties? Given #1 and #2, for me, I would just be happy with SD working as well as it does, and just sit by and wait patiently. "Loose ships sink ships", and I don't want to try and force someone to say something that could ultimately hurt me.

Don't think so? Give SD up and go to something else. Don't ask anyone what they use, heck, they all have free trials or are completely free.
    My opinion is my own.

No fighting here. I just want to be sure that the information put out there about anything is correct.

The point I was trying to make was SD is very new compared to CF, but yet has more "road friendly" features like gestures (don't have to look at the screen), Voice control, excellent custom capabilities (both do), VERY Microsoft friendly (as it's written around microsoft products, which to some is a downside, but to "plug and play" people, its important), works flawlessly in it's current condition, and costs $100 less,
I've never had SD working flawlessly. I've only had CF crash on me once. I gave over 60 demos in less than 10 hours time at the MERA show using CF and NEVER ONCE did it hang or crash on me. I've never had it crash on me while being judged...I've had that happen at least 3 times with SD.

One big issue, SD, when on home "stock" screen, doesn't feel it has to blare the products name across the screen (Not very OEM looking). I come from an age where, if you want to put your logo across the face of my product, then I get it for free, I don't pay extra.
Personal preference. StreetDeck still puts their name all over the product screens.

You know, that's a good arguement that customer service is just as, if not more, important than the product itself.
IMHO, it really is. That's why I spent SO much of my free time in here when I first started at Mp3Car...I felt that I might be able to at least help. However, now it's a non-issue since I left the company on Monday.

I have found it to boot up quite a bit quicker than SD, which is another reason I switched to it.

How are the resources once music and navigation are running compared to SD? Like I said before, when I tested it, I embedded mappoint and that screwed everything up.

Uh oh...this doesn't sound like good news if Red left mp3car. She was their biggest asset when it came to communicating with all of us and keeping up with the posts. Hopefully it doesn't have anything to do with this SD debacle!
