I haven't actually looked at the resource use when running it. I can say that it's lightning fast though. I'll try to remember to check it next time.

    Daniel,

I an a former SD user and for once I agree with everything that Red said, lol. I am quiet so no one knows my opinion anyway, lol

Seems like all your experiance with CF is hearsay. Nothing you have stated is correct which red very nicely pointed out. It sounds like to me also that you tried a very old version of CF because my version is very fast, in fact faster than SD and I had SD set at 100FPS. SD freezes all the time on me and its not like im running a slow VIA board. CF has never locked up on me. As for the resourses, my CPU is normally around 3-7% usage. SD it ran at near 100% constantly. The layouts between the two are very nice however I feel that CF is a bit nicer but that could be due to the fact that is is newer to me. As for the bluetooth, even the 3rd party software worked better than SDs non exsistant software. CF has BT coming out in the next update and you can use any BT dongle you want which is nice since I already have and now i dont need to spend $50 on another one. As far as gesures, they are also coming out in the next update. Maps are far better on CF than SD. Mappoint isnt bad, i agree, but the navi engine that SD uses blows. CF uses destinator maps, not IG. IG is a free optional mod that you can use if you already have IG. As for CF using MP, it is clearly stated that its is not a complete plugin.

I have to end it for now, i need to get back to work, lol

It scares me how Jan seems to have left the team and now everyone is backing CF that amazingly is now being sold by mp3car. Is this a case were SD will be swept under the rug to die and forcing its customers to buy CF?

CF has A LONG WAY TO GO to do that from a GUI perspective - IMHO. I will hang in there with SD until the day comes I have to reload my carpc and can't get a new activation code or July comes and I am required to have bluetooth support.

    HUH?

Have you even tried the newest version of CF. It has so many more options and features than SD its crazy. Either way, im not a CF salesman so im not trying to sell you guys on it but I too was skeptical of CF but after some reading I didnt even get the trial, I just bought it and never looked back. CF is far more complete than SD.

Right, saying I tried it 2 months ago, well, obviously I lied to cause pr.....exactly why did I lie?

Anyway, fine......can't say I am not willing to see for myself. Downloading CF to my laptop and will try it there.

Apples to Apples comparison. SD against CF. Both are demo versions, neither has navigation, and on startup, both are playing music, SD has visualization background running. Both installed at the same time on the same computer, a Dell XPS M170.

    Startup:
Streetdeck: 3 seconds. Playing music faster than I can get to the "cancel" button.

(I found that if you started with an older version and went through upgrades, your startups drag and then SD fails. If you are on a fresh windows load and go directly to newest version, 3-5 seconds is pretty standard, even in the car with navigation)

Centrafuse: 6 seconds, stopped counting at the "try" screen, also has 2 annoying warning screens before it's "ready".

    Features:
Streetdeck has, Centrafuse doesn't: Gesture control, satellite imagery navigation, Internet radio (yahoo jukebox), visualization background, OBDII (CF requires add-on), added navigation voices.

Centrafuse has, Streetdeck doesn't: Embedded Browser, Radio (requires 3rd party hardware and Streetdeck has with add-on), Phone (using 3rd party software) with limitted phone support.

    "Offline" Features:
Streetdeck: Developmental tools, Voice command editing, low performance mode, debug, media path editing tools
    Centrafuse: Uninstall Centrafuse

    Official Addons:
Streetdeck: Google POI, GPS gas, Weather, Yahoo news feed, Virtual Earth cache builder, Destinator mapping, Clock, Weather in metric, HQCT Media manager, GPS clock sync, Movie times, Calender
Centrafuse: Weather, Mappoint, E-mail, OBDII (stock with SD), TV, then for 3rd party, filesync, calculator, volume adjust, Calender, Iguidance

Where are all these features CF is supposed to have over SD? And that fantastic volume control that someone mentioned they were so happy with? Add-on....written by someone else and is not part of the CF pricetag.

I personally find the screens for CF (stock) are too busy and not asthetically pleasing in any way, shape or form. SD screens are well managed, pleasant, and easy to control. In the pictures below, the SD screen background is moving.

Now if anyone can take the above information, and explain the extra $100 for CF, you're a better saleman than I. And yes, this is the exact version of CF I tested before.

Hmmm... so now I had also a look on CF... just to make sure...

And it came even worse as thought! Though the GUI looks really nice!

But what should I do with only touchscreen buttons in my car ?

To press buttons on a touchscreen especially while driving is horror.
Not possible to feel them, you have to look on the screen all the time.
Take care to not catch the wrong button, when the car is shaking.
No tactile feedback, when you have pressed the button...

To make such a system handy in a car you need gestures, voice control and maybe also a few buttons - best on steering weel or on the arm support in the middle.

What for do you need many not so important features, when the important features are not comfortable to handle?

Does CF have automatic playlists?.. with "most played" "last added" "most played in the weekend"...? Can CF sort the songs on your mood and everything elso you like??
I guess it only has favorites.
That's also a big argument for me for SD and a carpc in general!!

SD is perfect userfriendly and CF not at all. All I miss on SD besides the open features and small details are I want to say "play Incubus" and Incubus is in the queue.
But this is a different story and I'm able to wait for it :-)
