Don't want to start any more rumors but oh well it's fun. It's sounding more and more like a SD+Centrafuse Merger to me. Didn't they say they can't tell us more due to legal reasons? this would be a benefit to all of us if that is the case. Damn i wish i could buy FluxMedia stock.

To press buttons on a touchscreen especially while driving is horror.
Not possible to feel them, you have to look on the screen all the time.
Take care to not catch the wrong button, when the car is shaking.
No tactile feedback, when you have pressed the button...

To make such a system handy in a car you need gestures, voice control and maybe also a few buttons - best on steering weel or on the arm support in the middle.
Exactly,,,,, I can switch between applications in SD and change songs without even looking at the screen; which is HUGE. Like I said, CF is a good interface but nothing compared to SD.

From an audiofile standpoint, CF might have the upper hand but driving down the freeway at 80mph with windows down means I can't tell the difference.

The demo version you downloaded is old. What version does it tell you you're on?

    Currently they're at 1.47.

Really, OOTB functionality should only be part of the consideration. It doesn't matter how many features a product has when you consider that the development community is way more productive and active on another front. Well, maybe I should say it's not as much of an issue what the OOTB features are when the add-on community is so active and the support is there to answer all questions quickly.

For the people these software programs are written for, these are two very important features. Considering CarPCs aren't exactly mass market consumer friendly just yet, the geek factor has to be considered. Now, since I don't code, I can't comment on how hard or easy it is to develop for either front end, but just because SD has a development environment doesn't mean much apparently. SD has few digital mods while CF has an active plug-in community. Believe me, I've been there comparing the two programs, I went pretty in depth with the comparison. And as I realized, it's a lot of personal preference.

Asking someone who likes CF to justify the $100 price difference is a bit absurd. That's like asking me to justify the price difference between my Focal Be tweeters and a $100 set of tweeters. For someone who knows, they realize it's worth every penny and for someone who is that into audio, it's easy to justify the price difference.

If I had to do it all over again, I would purchase CF in a heart beat.

I sure can. The subtle nuances aren't there like they would be at a standstill, but there's a definite difference. When you consider how WMP routes the audio (windows in general), it's no wonder.

However, this really gets into understanding audio and how it's routed through windows and tuning. For some people, it's a moot point, and it still goes back to personal preference.

I guess it only has favorites.
That's also a big argument for me for SD and a carpc in general!!
Don't want to sound argumentative but does SD have some of the features you mentioned? Automatic play list?, most played" "last added" "most played in the weekend"...? I not seeing how that’s done in SD

But this is a different story and I'm able to wait for it :-)

SD being perfect user-friendly and CF not at all that’s a matter of opinion ( I really like some of the features SD). Now on to my biggest gripe with SD the manner in which you select an add music is HORRIBLE especially if you have a large collection of music (I'm currently at 120GB).

I.E In my case I have my music sorted by Artist > album and have over 700 folder in my music folder. Let’s say I'm adding music to my queue and am at the artist names beginning with the letter M (about 300 folders down) after selecting a song from the artist
I wish to add I will be taken back to queue. When I go back to add additional songs and browse the music folder I am back at the very to of the queue at the letter A, meaning I know have to scroll down 300 folders to get back the same spot I was . That is just moronic, I currently us RR with the LSX Void skin the manner in which it handles music blows SD out of the water, the same goes for CF especially if you have a large collection. The same applies to selecting videos in SD .

Right! I don't really mind, if it's ootb or an addin.
Because as we are geeks and so we are also willing to spend time on it.

But you are an audio quality geek and I'm entirely an usability geek.
And usability isn't one of the first priorities of CF.
Rather they haven't any special idea for controlling at all.

What's the real advantage of CF compared to a good navigation HU with an Ipod??
    Except maybe price and expandability.
    I don't find any point.

BTW: Can CF search for songs?

Sure has it SD, otherwise I would mention this.
Just define the automatic playlist in WMP and you will find it in SD!

Sorry, I maybe haven't said it right.
I meant the general idea of SD is perfect user friendly.
And it is obviously the main intention of SD.

For sure it has many flaws, like you have described.
But most of them would only need small modifications to fix it.
It was always a miracle to me, that they didn't care about navigation in big lists.

I see Streetdeck going to Origami WAY before it would go to Centrafuse. It's a much better match (complimentary), they have shown a lot of interest in SD, and they have buttloads more money than fluxmedia ever will. Heck, just their CEO makes more in a year than fluxmedia will in it's entire history. And you can buy Origami stock!

Oh yeah, CEO is Bill Gates
    My opinion is my own.

In order to be impartial, both versions were downloaded directly from their respective sites. Not sure what CF was (I'll check), but SD was 1.0.9.8 and the only addition I made was weather to CF as I wanted to see how it looked.
    My opinion is my own.
