Apples to Apples comparison. SD against CF. Both are demo versions, neither has
navigation, and on startup, both are playing
music, SD has visualization background running. Both installed at the same time on the same computer, a Dell XPS M170.
Startup:
Streetdeck: 3 seconds. Playing music faster than I can get to the "cancel" button.
(I found that if you started with an older version and went through upgrades, your startups drag and then SD fails. If you are on a fresh
windows load and go directly to newest version, 3-5 seconds is pretty standard, even in the car with navigation)
Centrafuse: 6 seconds, stopped counting at the "try" screen, also has 2 annoying warning screens before it's "ready". [HL]The pop ups can be removed in testmode, unlike SD when you are in testmode they show up. Seems like a better way of doing that to me[/HL]
Features:
Streetdeck has, Centrafuse doesn't: Gesture control, satellite imagery navigation [HL](Wait you said apples to apples trial versions right? So niether one have NAVI so how can it have "Satellite imagery navigation"?)[/HL], Internet
radio (yahoo jukebox)( [HL]OK who seriously has a 100% internet connection at all times in thier car AND USED THIS WORTHLESS FEATURE?)[/HL]. [HL](Removed OBDII support since it CF does have that, all you need is the elmscan 5 JUST LIKE SD)[/HL], Voice guided navigation
Centrafuse has, Streetdeck doesn't: Embedded Browser, Radio (requires 3rd party
hardware and Streetdeck has with add-on [HL](Of course it needs 3rd party addon hardware. so does SD, I didnt see any hardware in my SD DVD case, did you?)[/HL]), Phone [HL](Actually the "3rd party
software" is included), Speed based Volume control, Normailized volume equalization, more intuituve EQ, ability to control front rear left right, center, and sub outputs individually, Auto Day/night skin switch mode, Windows button to minimize the screen to the taskbar so you can use windows normally, Embeded email program,
WIFI locator and scanner, TV (Requires HW) Weather, Option to use the program as a shell which boots/loads way faster.[/HL]
"Offline" Features:
Streetdeck: Developmental tools, Voice command editing, low performance mode, debug, media path editing tools
Centrafuse: Uninstall Centrafuse [HL]Centrafuse has all that as well^^^[/HL]
Official Addons:
Streetdeck: Google POI, GPS gas, Weather, Yahoo news feed, Virtual Earth cache builder, [HL]Destinator mapping( Oh really? Where? cause ive never seen it???), [/HL]Clock, Weather in metric, HQCT Media manager, GPS clock sync, Movie times, Calender
Centrafuse:Mappoint, filesync, calculator, volume adjust [HL](NOT TRUE! ITS UNRELEASED!)[/HL], Calender,
Iguidance, [HL]Tablet mode (Scribble), USER SUPPORT out #s SD by far, OBDII guages instead of solid color bars like SD, Tire Pressure Monitor (Requires HW), Advanced Photo Viewer.[/HL]
Where are all these features CF is supposed to have over SD? And that fantastic volume control that someone mentioned they were so happy with? Add-on....written by someone else and is not part of the CF pricetag.[HL] (Umm no, its called an update, thats free, again, not apples to apples)[/HL]
I personally find the screens for CF (stock) are too busy and not asthetically pleasing in any way, shape or form. SD screens are well managed, pleasant, and easy to control. In the pictures below, the SD screen background is moving. [HL]SD screens are easy, I agree, but CF seems easier to me, less clutter, laid out in more screens so there is less confusion having a screenful of buttons.[/HL]
Now if anyone can take the above information, and explain the extra $100 for CF, you're a better saleman than I. And yes, this is the exact version of CF I tested before. [HL](well its only $100 more if you get the navigation that it comes with which is destinator, which was designed as a car use map unlike MP. but if you just get SE cause you already have IG then its actually $75 CHEAPER than SD but then you dont get the
bluetooth support. If you want it, then its still $25 cheaper)[/HL]
