I find it intersting the strict rigidity with which that thread was moderated. Im not saying that all posts were relevant/constructive; however, I do feel that the censorship on that thread was atypical for the forum.

All of the threads are atypical in the sense that you have a lot of people steamed over a situation and they start making comments that are either personally directed at moderators, blatantly untrue, or encouraged illegal activities.

There are two other threads (this one included) where SD users are venting their frustration. The old thread doesn't close any outlets for that frustration. It can and is continued here.

My comment was not intended as critique of the moderators, merely an observation that these threads are attracting significant attention. In no way am I defending any/all of the moderated comments. I am more disapointed that this situation could have been alleviated/avoided by better communication from the SD/MP3Car staff.

I am going to add my 2 cents.

    I closed the thread because

    1) I was sick of cleaning the crap out of the thread. There are 171 posts in the thread AFTER 60 posts of crap were deleted

    2) people asking to crack SD and release it to the general public.

    3) It was supposed to be a "status" thread.

    4) I let people have their say. On the whole people did what I asked. It was the people that couldn't comprehend my simple requests to keep the thread on topic that caused me to close it.

@kalt: I do not appreciate your comment (yes it was deleted and no not by me). If you don't like what I did, fine, but if people like you were constructive rather than posting 1 line snide comments, then the thread probably wouldn't have been closed.

Here are the ONLY things I have found that do not work on SD v1.1.1.6. Note the trend.....

    1. BT phone. No comment....
1b. HD Radio. This one does tick me off a bit. Either finish boomzbox or code something else dammit. It doesn't tick me off enough to throw in the towel though.

    2. Autohide volume after 1.1.1.0 (digital Mod)/ Crashes SD/mappoint
    3. Autohide zoom after 1.1.1.0 (digital Mod)/ Crashes SD/mappoint
    4. Weather (digital mod)/service changed
    5. GPS gas price locator (digital mod)/service changed

it is the fact that you have to pay for a product and find out that it is advertising features that the developers / sellers know the product doesnt have , and its not a new problem

    Oh well.

Closing the thread has a second effect, which I think is more significant than simply preventing new posts - since no one is allowed to post in that thread anymore, it will drop off of the front page of the SD forum, and essentially, cease to exist.

Unfortunately, that means that quite a bit of entirely valid criticism of the current situation will also _relatively_ cease to exist for new users/potential customers visiting the forums to research SD...information that they should be aware of before making a purchase decision.

Threads are essentially sorted based on popularity, since a thread that attracts frequent posting is a thread that many members of the community are interested in, and closing a thread artificially changes that dynamic. That's why I would prefer that individual members be warned as violations occur.

    So there. ;-)

The streetdeck sub-forum is our only source of Info/Software Updates for the $120-$200 software we paid for, this section is essentially streetdecks support website. Being lazy and sick of cleaning out the crap in the Streetdeck Status thread is not excuse to close it.
I really don’t care if you were offended by my statement, i still think you're a jack*** so get used to it.

PS: If I eventually get banned for my comments please don’t lock me out the streetdeck sub-forum because I paid for this d**n software and I want my g*d*m* support.

    GOOOOO Streetdeck GOOOOO.
    You can do it!

Would it really be illegal for someone to reverse engineer SD to provide the features that SD customers paid for?

I say, crap or get off the pot.

I think I would love to see SD go after someone who did this - I can just imagine what that would be like in court... let's see, SD isn't going to release the feature, so no one can? What's up with that?
