Agreed. I would think if they were continuing to sell the software through the store that they would still be issuing activaiton codes by necessity...couldn't really allow someone to purchase the software and then refuse to activate it.

Dont know bout thoose who have purchased SD the past months, I bet they regret it.
However I did an install on a new carputer a couple fo weeks ago. Requested for new code from http://www.streetdeck.com/transfer.php Submitted the request sunday afternoon, received answer monday afternoon. So I got the code at monday morning, given the time difference from Norway to the US.
Unless this is an automated system, doubt it though, there are some activity over at SD HQ. Wether it is the FBI or the SD-staff I dont know.
If I donīt remember it. It never happened

People who have looked at Streetdeck's website in the last few months - even people looking at it and considering purchase today will see on the Streetdeck Features page what seems to be misleading information like:

    Features:
    Traffic (Coming Soon)
    Automotive E-mail (Coming Soon)
    Bluetooth Phone Support

    http://www.streetdeck.com/features.php

This is in addition to existing problems with features that currently exist. Up until February, MP3Car.com was pretty good at putting out updates that addressed issues. But then they stopped putting out updates - and announced that they were "adding" Centrafuse to their product line.

Streetdeck is MP3Car.com - it is the same company:

    http://www.streetdeck.com/about.php

So why would mp3car.com start selling a different front end? (Centrafuse) - it just doesn't make sense - they are competing with themselves.

They have a responsibility to their existing Streetdeck customers who have purchased streetdeck with a good faith understanding that they would be adding features "Soon" - instead, it seems very likely that they have decided to abandon Streetdeck, and just sell someone else's front end (oh, but until that's official, they will gladly still take money for new orders).

So, you can understand why existing Streetdeck customers are up in arms - especially when an Mp3car employee posts a thread and says essentially "we're listening, we know you're upset, and we'll have an update for you in the next month" - then lets a month go by, and finally after another week, and posts "sorry, it's probably good, but nothing yet, give us another month". What exactly would "good" be? How about following through on what the Streetdeck website has promised for more than the last year - features that were the reason that I, and other Streetdeck owners bought the software to begin with?

Adverstising a feature with software, and taking money for that software, and not providing the feature is called fraud. I really don't see any other way to look at this.

I would assume they are going to officially drop Streetdeck soon - I mean, it takes money to continue to develop the software, and now, there is less money. Less money = less development. Previously, Mp3Car.com advertised and sold one front end - how much less money is going to be available for development of streetdeck, now that they are also selling Centrafuse?

It seems like they have been more than happy to collect the money for this front end - but reluctant to follow through.

you may think you guys are being slick with statements like this; but I guarantee you will be feeling differently when you are testifying in your upcoming consumer fraud case.

Who knows about the Centrafuse deal... Maybe they are partnering up, maybe they just found another revenue stream - after all, they have hosted the forums for every other car computing product on the planet even though they compete with them...

Call it clever advertising, call it unethical, or call it a road map that was too demanding to deliver in a short period of time, but their advertising of *coming soon* and not delivering *soon enough* for their customers is not illegal or fraud.

    Just a small chime in.....

    1. Transferred Streetdeck to a new computer last week. Got the number in less than 24 hours.

    2. I wouldn't shop at any store that only carried a single brand. The Centrafuse deal makes more sense than anything else they have done.

    3. I was surprised FO commented at all. Knew if he did, he would be attacked.

    4. Kino-9452 is THE motherboard for car computers!!
    My opinion is my own.
