    Hey Chuck,

Glad to see you back. Very happy to see some information come out IRT Streetdeck. You mentioned releasing the source for the ODBII plugin shortly. I am not sure if you are aware of this but the new ELMSCAN USB ODB II tool comes jumper locked to 38800 bps (it can be reset to 9600 by cracking open the tool) which makes it not work out of the box with Streetdeck. Can we expect that to be addressed in one of your early updates to SD?

Also, will you be selling the upgrade to V2 directly from your new site and not using MP3Car as the sole vendor? I ask this specifically because I refuse to do any more business through MP3Car after their horrid treatment towards all of us.

    Thanks,

    X

I'm trying to find it, but he posted a patch for this problem in another thread. I thought it was your thread. Might check your subscriptions.

A new OBDII plugin has already been released in this thread:

StreetDeck will be sold to whatever distributor wants to sell it. I'm not sure if we are going to do direct to consumer sales on the site. Its likely though.

    Thanks for clarifying.

/me wonders why MS would make a stack that could only handle one input/output type at a time

Well the real problem is the HFP stack is implemented differently by every different phone. Its not that the PC can't handle multiple connections its more that some phones can't and they use a single connection to do both voice and data communication. Typically there no reason for a PC to connect to a phone as a hands free device, its more just to do phone book sync up or some other type of data transfer this is really what the Microsoft stack and most other stacks on PCs target.

Wow. I totally missed that. Fantastic. Thank you for digging that up. This has been bugging the heck out of me for months.

Interesting and odd (from my perspective)

I've used my HTC Touch with Linux handsfree just because I was lazy. It defaulted to voice mode, although I've never tried to send data to/from the phone through bluetooth. I'll try that tonight to see.

Thanks for the insight into the issue. It's good to see the detail causing the issue to be technically non-trivial, despite first impressions.

Just curious about the traffic issue... Is it a technical issue or is it a licensing issue for not offering it in this upcoming version.

    Its simply a time issue.

We have traffic data licensed and a routing engine that will work with it, just not enough time to get it implemented. I'm not saying it won't ever be in the next version, but its not in it now and won't be in it at the initial release.
