There have been a couple of ways. One was for those who had previously purchased something from digitalwheelz.com- first 10 people who qualified could get a free copy. There was another opportunity to get a beta/developer copy if you wrote them a tool (Free Copy of StreetDeck)

I am pointing out that the faults he's experineced are due to VIA hardware. He would not have those problems if he wasn't running it on an underpowered VIA machine.

I wish there was a way for us 'average Joes' out here to get it. I've got a Pentium mobile 755 laptop ready to test.

I have a Pentium M carpc already..... I'd even be willing to purchase say a "mp3car.com package" which could be the external soundcard, bluetooth stick, fm radio, whatever they support... but I already shelled out the money for a pc, processor, ram, hd, etc as well as for the PSU (which I got from mp3car) the display (also), etc.....

I'll 2nd the issue about memory. 512MB greatly improves performance.

Also keep in mind there are usually 4 different ways to do things (usual gui, keyboard, voice, gestures) so if there's something you don't like you can usually figure out a shortcut or workaround. StreetDeck also coexists very nicely with Girder for those of you familiar with that nifty tool. I use a remote control velcro'd to the roof to control many StreetDeck functions and use voice (via mic) for the rest. Having Girder allowed automation of several steps into one button push by sending commands in sequence to StreetDeck.

This is something we are planning on doing. It is going to take us some time though before we are able to bring everything to market.

    Interested in SD software too!

    Hello,

I just purchased an Aopen machine and Carnetix power supply from you guys and am chomping at the bit for it to arrive. I was going to originaly buy the SD system when it was on sale, but the box size was too big and I would have to locate it in the cargo are of my Mazda 6 wagon which would make it vulnerable to damage as well as place my DVD to far away from the driver. Had it been smaller (aopen Pandora size) I would of gone the SD route since as others have mentioned it, it was pretty much plug and play whereas I have to figure everything out as I go. I am not much of a computer guy, but these forums have helped out a lot.

With all that said, I would love to give the SD software a try on my Aopen machine when it arrives. God of CPU, any chance you will allow past mp3car buyers a chance to use or buy the software? I have been researching Road Runner and Centrafuse, but I would like to try your stuff out, since the SD demo is the whole reason I decided to buy a carputer in the first place.

    Best regards,

    Marc Webster
