    Compatible Monitors?

My 2002 Chevy Avalanche currently has a Xenarc 700TSV installed, will SD support this monitor? How easy would it be to connect dual touch screen monitors (one with gps all the time and one with everything else?)

Is there a list of compatible components? Such as radio tuners and OBD-II modules?

In the product description to the right of the Porsche, is a bullet that says ďBluetooth Phone IntegrationĒ but Iíve noticed that it states the Bluetooth chip not included and in final development. Which is it? If I order this today will it pair up with my cell phone?

Sorry if some of these questions seem obvious, Iím a Mac head who hasnít owned a Windows box since Windows 2000.

Yes, it will work with the 700TSV or any touchscreen monitor with windows drivers.

The current system does not include the bluetooth hardware. There is currently no way to use your phone with StreetDeck until the hardware is made. You will have to purchase additional hardware at that time to make it work.

Dual monitor support is not enabled for the current BETA shipping version, but it will be available as a free upgrade when we release the final version.

Will there be support for more than 2 monitors? How about more than one audio out? It'd be great to be able to play movies (with audio going to headphones) in the rear of the car while still being able to listen to music / use navigation in the front seat.

macalanche, I like your idea of always having a screen up for navigation! god_of_cpu, will that be a feature of dual-monitor support? Can both screens be touchscreens? On a side note, ever thought of creating some sort of "navigation control" USB hardware solution to have permanent control over navigation? :-D

You will have to purchase additional hardware at that time to make it work. What do you mean by additional hardware? A dongle, pci card, or a new board? What price range do you expect it be?

After going through a Mac Mini install in my truck already, I’m hesitant to do a beta install. When do you expect to have a full version ready?

I'm not involved with SD in any way other than an avid beta user. That said, God_of_CPU said the other day that the bluetooth and AM/FM functionality would be built into the same unit, which will be a single-din sized device with a built-in amplifier (so theoretically you could replace your standard car HU with it if you so choose). I don't think they have any idea on price yet, that's largely dependant on how much the production runs cost... right now they are still working on the prototype hardware (which is always less expensive than the final production product).

This product is very close to the new Pioneer AVIC-Z1 in capability, so it seems to me having a system that is flexible would be a major selling point for SD. I mention this because I REALLY donít like pop-up monitors and was drawn to the SD product in part due to the fact I could have any touch screen I wanted, including the one I already paid a small fortune to have installed in my dash (and hopefully multiple touch screens). If Iím reading your post correctly, the next generation of SD is going to be an all in one solution with a pop-up monitor. If thatís the case, they will have removed, or at least made it very difficult to add 3rd party peripheral devices, and honestly some of the fun of having a computer in your car. Iím aware that Iím asking for a solid, ďEverythingĒ solution that will allow me to putz with it when Iím feeling like a pseudo hacker, and use its stock capabilities when Iím not. I also understand this isnít totally realisticÖbut that doesnít keep me from wanting it. If I canít have that, I donít see why I, or anyone, wouldnít go with an established brand that I/we can pick up in any stereo shop, have professionally installed and just accept it will never be a true car-puter. Iím not trying to pick a fight or be a pest but Iím already over $2k invested in this project and Iím staring down another $2k to complete it (start over really) and all I have to show for it is a Mac Mini sitting on my desk with some software that will do absolutely nothing for me outside the car, a monitor in my console that is basically just a back-up cam and a very cool wife who is starting to loose her cool. This is my last shot at this without fear of divorce or at least very expensive jewelry so I canít blow it.

The enabler box we are working on will have an amplifier, AM/FM radio, bluetooth, aux in, extra serial port, dvd drive, front controls, and usb hub. It will probably be available in single DIN form factor first and may be available in other form factors. Anything I just said could change yet as we are revising the current prototype design. I have no idea on the release date yet or cost.

It will not have a built in screen or computer.

Yes, dual zone audio and video will be supported, we are under NDA on some of the technology so I can't go into the details yet.

You can already use any girder plugin with StreetDeck, just drag and drop it into the plugins folder and setup it up in the input settings. This means you can bind navigation functions to remote controls, phidgets, steering wheel controls, or anything else you can get a girder plugin for.
