Microsoft mappoint 2004/2006 European Version

Will Streetdeck support the 2004/2006 version of Microsoft Mappoint.

I dont see any differences in the software engine between the north american and european version, except from the map data. Though, the european version of mappoint 2004 wont work with streetdeck and that was a couple of hundred bucks of my worse spent money ever.

Btw, great software, I can't wait until you get the final 1.0 version up so I can pay for it and run it for more than 15 minutes at a time. Hopefully within the next 28 days so my version wont expire.

StreetDeck goes well above the mappoint navigation engine and works with the mappoint data directly in many cases to provide an interface better suited for an in car navigation system. The differences between how roads are structured in the US and in Europe means streetdeck has to be modified to work with the european version of mappoint, which hasn't happened yet, but will at some point.

Hi,

I'm from Europe (Holland) as well, and I'd like to know when you think an European version of StreetDeck (including maps) is available for testing/sale. And how much will it cost?
Is it possible to buy the standard (US) version now, and upgrade to the European version later?

Hi,

My PDA with TomTom has died, meaning my carputer project has to be accelerated (no pun intended).

I'm in the UK, and streetdeck looks like it is the dog knackers. But obviously I'll need the UK map.

Could I download the trial and then upgrade it to the full version with UK maps at a later date? Or will there be a fundimental difference between the USA and European versions?

And I know it's hard when so many people are mithering you, but semi-concrete info on a release date would be great.

Oh, and beta testing is available if needed (doing 35,000 miles per year, the sooner the better!!!).
