    Audio issue...ticked

This really fries my goats... Every single time I install something in the PCI slots of my Streetdeck something goes HORRIBLY wrong... This time, I went out and purchased an XFI - ok, it found it when it booted up and installed the drivers... now I get no sound - YAY ME - I never learn... seeing as how this happened to me before, I feel like the guy who stands out in the rain with a golf club... What the heck - Why is it that this unit hates me (or at least hates every peripheral I put in it)? What do I need to do to get audio out of this thing??? The computer thinks everything is ok, but still....NO SOUND (Kinda defeats the purpose).. HELP!

-oh ya and I did disable AC97 in the bios first - that didn't do anything (other then shut off the AC97)

Just remember - everything can be solved with a big hammer

Check your mixer (bottom of the volume slider). I've had my levels for all the modules spontaneously all go to 0, except for Nav for some reason. Of course I didn't find this until after I blew away my SD and re-intsalled it.

Thanks, but I already played with the mixer (and all of the audio controls) - I get to hear "clicking sounds" and when I messed with a few more settings, I got like a really loud obnoxious hearing test going through each of the speakers

Ok, so what's the deal - is there a bios setting, does the pci riser need a jumper setting, what's the deal??? Anyone who has actually installed a soundcard run into anything like this before? Here we go again.....

Hey, what's the betting that if I take out the card and revert to my AC97 it won't work....This unit frickin HATES ME!!! It's been in the shop more times then a 83 Yugo

And the winner is....ME!!!! I found the solution myself - here it is: I tried everything imaginable, so I decided to remove the card from the pci riser and throw it into the top slot - BAM! - after the computer started up and reinstalled the drivers...MAGIC...IT WORKED. So what does this mean? It could mean a lot of things...my pci slot on the bottom is crap...the top slot is slot 0 and has to be loaded first for some reason...I don't care, I am just so happy I got something to work in this thing!!!

Congratulations. You might want to check that second slot though while still under warranty in case you upgrade in the future.

That may not be a bad idea.... What is the warranty on Streetdeck anyhow? I guess I just blindly assumed I would get this level of support until everything worked right - they have done pretty well with the support so far....

Do you have the Opus case? Cause they make two different riser cards. One for intel boards and one for epia boards.
