What about GPS drift due to signal instability? I've had different GPS units suddenly place me across the street one second, and down the block another. All this while standing still. So where is the threshold that determines if the car moved or not? I assume you would have to move so far in a certain period of time? Or, you'd have to move in relation to the road. Just an idea while waiting for my unlock code, haha.

All of our testing has shown the GPS lock out to be pretty accurate. It may take an extra couple of seconds after stopping to register, but its never locked out when it shouldn't have.

Hmm.. that's good. Only, for $149.99 - $199.99 I would like to have the option. I mean, safety is a concern as well as the legal aspect. But I can think of more reasons why I'd want the ability to disable safety features than to have these features built-in and not editable. As someone mentioned in another forum, what if a passenger wants to do something, and SD locks them out of it? Maybe the bundled version with SD hardware should retain these safety features and the software-only version could have an option. After all, you would want it to work on multiple systems in addition to the hardware you've paired up.

Also what about dual monitor folk who want to play a DVD to the kids in the back seat and the screen is disabled!

Surely there should be an OPTION at least, even if it defaults to 'disable while moving'.

As someone else said, I'd be annoyed (to say the least) if I've paid money for a system that has a fundamental flaw against a lot of great free frontends out there

Video is only disabled on the front screen. Nothing on the rear screen in a dual monitor system is ever disabled.

It is illegal in every state to have video playing in view of the driver. We are liable because we make StreetDeck and it has to comply with the law whenever applicable. Some of the other safety features may be laxed in future versions based on testing, but we will never make it easy for the driver to view video while driving.

I have no problems with blacking out the video in the front monitor. However, I want the option to edit the navigation settings, or any other settings. If these settings are blocked out while in motion, I'm sure I'll be using my Garmin GPS to get me from point A to B instead of SD. From my point of view it all comes down to cost. The more I pay for software, the more I expect from it.

Disabling video is fine, as it is illegal to watch while driving. All other features should be availble while in motion though. Maybe, just maybe, the only feature that I'd agree could be blocked out is to go into the detailed settings. Going through those menus obviously does take away from driving if you are the driver. At any rate, the option should always be there in costly software like this. Defaults serve the purpose of setting up the optimum settings for most users, while advanced options suit those who demand more.

I'm all for going off-topic, but about that DirectX story. I'm using the onboard video on my Via M10000, and am getting the same Direct3D error. According to DxDiag, my card is Directx 7 capable, but not 8 or 9.

Does this sound right? Driver issue? Workaround?

Never mind. It was Powerstrip had written its own windows driver for my monitor. I changed back to the Microsoft "Flat Panel 800 x 600" and it worked...

Not to hijack anything, but.. how are the "animations" on your m10000 rtaxerxes?.. I have the same setup... not tried the trial yet on it..

what graphic card are you using?
