tried it once...no go, even when in -testmode. please oh please tell me i'm missing something or there's a bug. need to have voice input for nav!
You can perform navigation functions by speaking, but you can't simply speak any address to have it route to that.
when it comes to the address entry page, i'd like to spell out the address. I don't mind going number by number and then letter by letter to do so (i.e. having my voice 'push' the keyboard buttons). But - it seems i can't even trigger the voice interface to listen on this page (i.e. I press the space bar and nothing happens). Is that by design or a bug?
The keyboard keys are remapped to keyboard keys when in the keyboard mode. If you map a non-character key, like F4 to toggle the voice interface it should then work. Space will be recognized as space when in the keyboard module. You will still have to trigger the toggle voice interface function for each key though. The voice interface simply wasn't designed with this functionality in mind.Originally Posted by S4Per
i'll try that....and that brings up another question/point/feedback: is there any way that you'll change the voice input to give the option to have it listen for 5 to 10 seconds at a time to address something like this? I know some people will want just what there is today (don't want to wait for music pauses longer than necessary, etc.), but if there were a global setting for this, it certainly would make voice integration better for this purpose.
Pretty sure i know the answer, so let's say it'd be a compelling reason to upgrade to 2.0 for me ;-)...and I'll definitely take it sooner :-).
There probably won't be any changes the internal voice interface other then bug fixes. We have spoken to some other voice interface companies and it is possible that there could be an add-on for StreetDeck from them that does more advanced recognition. I have no other details other then that though.
k. thanks for the info, and please keep me (us) posted if there does happen to be news there in the future.
