    Music/Song Ratings

    Is it possible to view or update song ratings within Streetdeck?

    OK...well what I am thinking is a script that connects to an MS Access DB that has the ratings/media info, does a select based on the title/artist and returns the song record.

    Then add a slider or set of buttons to the module that update the ratings field based on the position of the slider. It would read the position/value of the slider/button and update the record.

    So when you go to a song that already has a rating, the slider would position itself according to the rating value.

    Is this doable? I can figure out everything...so far...except for how to get the current song title and artist from Streetdeck. The module wouldn't modify the song rating, but it would keep the info in a separate db...

    You can get the current media information using the App.GetDynamicStringValue api call, but we haven't exposed the media player api yet so it would be limted to the current playing media only.

    As long as I can get the current song I'll be happy. Can you give a little more info on that call?

    For example, if I want to get the title and artist values, how would I access them? So if I have 2 labels: "Title" and "Artist", how would I assign the label values using this api call? I'm not a programmer, but I play one on TV...

    Title.Caption = App.getDynamicStringValue(eDLT As enumDynamicLabelType)
    Artist.Caption = App.getDynamicStringValue(eDLT As enumDynamicLabelType)

    What values do I put in the parens?

    You can look up all the enumerations in the StreetDeck IDL file:
    StreetDeck Language Definition File

    YOu would use eDLTMediaTitle and eDLTMediaArtist.
