StreetDeck on Linux attempt: need help.

As I try to get Street Deck working on linux, I thought I'd start a post that I can keep asking the developers (well, mainly God_of_cpu) a few questions, as I come accross hurtles.
Maybe if I get anywhere with this, it can become a sticky... but for now:

First question is, "Why is DirectX9 neessary?"
From what my usage has been with the demo, there's nothing (at least from a user point of view) that DirectX 7 or 8 couldn't accomplish.

The reason I ask is because the installer barks at me, saying that I don't have directx9 installed.

He didn't - he is using some sort of emulator to run it - there is no Streetdeck for Linux...

    Correct.
There is no StreetDeck for linux.

I'm using Wine, which is _NOT_ an emulator. It's a platform that provides reversed engineered microsoft support files to allow windows programs to run on i386 linux distributions.

I'm in the process of trying to get StreetDeck running in linux. No promises.

DirectX 9 is required becuase thats what it is compiled against, I don't think it uses any DirectX 9 specific features though.

    Ok.
Is there any way to tell the installer not to check for directX?
I know wine has directX compatability (to some extent) so I can continue with the installation, and see what other hurtles I need to overcome.

You don't necessarily need the installer to install streetdeck. You should be able to just copy the files and it will run. The only thing special the installer really does it create some shortcuts.

Just install streetdeck on a windows machine. Copy the Program files\StreetDeck folder and My documents\StreetDeck folder to your linux machine. Then run SDConfig.exe from the new streetdeck program files directory and setup the folders to point to where you copied the files to. You should now be able to just run StreetDeck.exe.

That project hasn't been supported since a year ago. I believe a lot of that code has already been implementeds in the current version of wine.

Anyhoo, got SD installed ons a windows machine, and copied the files over like Chuck described..
Ran the SDConfig.exe file (which ran fine), and setup the paths. So far so good.

When I tried running the StreetDeck.exe file however, I get 3 windows that pop up, that read: "[97] Debugger detected - Please disable it and restart a the application"
And that's it. I get my comand prompt back. Program ends execution.
The number up front is [256] in one window, [97] in the second and [305] in the third.
I don't know if this is StreetDeck error message, or a wine issue.

Do you have any idea what that might mean Chuck?

EDIT: Did some searching, and this is likely not a StreetDeck issue. Need to do more searching.

StreetDeck has active protection for disassemblers, this is likely causing the problem.
