Streetdeck, GPS & Mappoint or Streets

Does the retail version of streetdeck come with MS Mappoint and the maps for Canada or just the U.S.A ? I have a retail copy of Streets and Trips 2006, will I be able to use these maps? How can I test the GPS capabilities without buying streetdeck outright. The dev-mode seems not to show a map at all, and demo mode complains about the nav-module missing. Just looking for some of this info before I go too far.

StreetDeck comes with navigation data for all of North America.

You can test this if you install a copy of Mappoint. It will not work with Streets and Trips.

Can I just confirm this as I am very interested in the European version when it comes out. What do you mean by map data? When I buy SD do I have to buy anything else software wise to get GPS navigation.

    No.
You only need to have S&T or MP to have map data with the trial version.
Have you looked in the FAQ yet?
    How about the Wiki?

Thanks for that, I was just a bit confused as part of the SD page mentioned you needed Mappoint but I see now its just for the trial to work properly and not the full version. Just have to sit and wait on the European version getting a release now.

Does the 199$ purchase of the current version, license Streetdeck to you for all subsequent versions or releases?

At this point we have not started planning a version 2.0. We are going to continue to release free patches for it that may also include new enhancements for the forseeable future.

At some point in the future, there will probably be a version 2.0 that will be a pay for upgrade and will coincide with new navigation data.
