    m10k+1gig ram=dvd lag

    am i the only one? any tips? when i play in SD, it plays 2 secs fine, then pauses, 2 secs, pauses etc. in reg windows all players work smoothly.

    virtual ram = min1024 max 1024

    please help

    with that system, codecs wont matter. a friend of mine has the same setup and has the same exact issues. Needless to say, he is waiting on putting an upgraded MB, processor, and ram in.

    i dont see why you would need to upgrade MB when the SD pc is 1ghz and 512ram, where the m10000 is 1ghz as well and im giving it 1gig of ram. can someone fill me in on the missing link here

    its not truely a 1ghz tho. i have seen a guy test that board and they were only about 800mhz. Plus SD is fairly graphics intensive which the little via board has a hard time handling when you have SD and a DVD running. The processor can only handle so much. I also had the same probs as you and i had the epia 1.2ghz version and it choked pretty bad on SD and DVDs at the same time. there may be other ways around this issue but i didnt want a system that ran at its max all the time. now, i can run at 60fps and watch dvds all day and not skip a beat. im just not overly skilled with software and hardware so i just went the overkill route, lol
