MP3 Management

Is there anything that can be done to improve the music interface for SD? MP3 management is not adequate to say the least for larger mp3 collections. Anybody else having this problem?

absolutely in the same boat here. I've noted it several times. Chuck - do we have enough yet to make a difference here? Seems this is a common complaint.

I know GOC once talked about using gestures to search through music. I don't know about you guys, but if we had the option to index music by folders and search by artist then album, that would be perfect for me. Then be able to gesture in a letter and have it zoom to the first artist with lets say an N, it would make it very efficient. Even better would be to incorporate something like what the new iTunes is built on, cover browser. SD needs more eye candy.
The skin in the Intel demo looked pretty slick, even for a VW skin :P. It looked much more stylish than the default skin. Hopefully that is the future of SD.

I agree. I have been dealing with it the past 2 days. I have a collection of over 10,000 songs and it's a pain to sort.

Is there a list of what file types it supports and is there a hack to allow it to rip at a higher bit rate than 128??

You can just rip CD's using an external application. Variable bit rate is my fav.

...that is exactly it. every other front end i know of does it that way. the SD way just makes no sense for 95% of the people out there. and no, don't quote me on that percentage, but come on.

1.0.5.5 will show a list of albums if a selected artist has more then one.
