Thread: Question re: Nav updates and FM tuners

1. The maps will be updated when new data is available. There will be a fee associated with this.

2. TV, Radio, and Bluetooth don't use generic hardware. There is no good standard way of supporting for TV and Radio and all of the TV and radio cards made for the PC simply suck in terms of tuning and installing in the car. The only TV and radio officially supported at this time are on the Infill T3. We are working on support for more radio hardware, but the hardware we support and plan on supporting is specialized for in vehicle use to make it easy to hook up and work well on the road. Bluetooth doesn't use generic hardware because the typical experience using a generic pc bluetooth dongle with a phone is having a phone or bluetooth dongle that is simply incompatible, bluetooth drivers that crash if you sneeze too hard, and significant setup issues. Everything else should be compatible with generic hardware.

So there is no hardware to make the FM tuner work, if you are not using the Infill T3?

As far as maps, if you have a license for the newer version of mappoint as and when it comes out can you just import the map data from that?

Its possible, but not probable. There are some differences between the mappoint data and the navigation data that ships with streetdeck now that allow more features to work. Compatibility with mappoint may decrease in future versions to allow us to improve our feature set.

Wow, that sucks, maybe I will have to change my mind and keep my deck also. I was hoping to not have to do that.
