Okay after hours of trying everything i coudl think of, I found that if I open the Sounds and Audio Devices Properties, and I click on teh test hardware button, then hit next and next, I will loop from input to output, there must be away to reproduce this??? Anyone with the know how can you help? I know on the Mac side there is a program called LineIn that does the same thing and it's how I use the XM PCR1000 on OS X. I'd even be willing to offer a bounty for a solution.

If you use the command line -RouteXMAudio it should digitally route the audio input and work for the mac mini.

I ran a MacMini for a few months (in XP). Worked very well.

I did end up switching to an AOpen MiniPC for multi-monitor support and multiple (configurable) audio ports (adjustable volume for front, back, and sub channels). Also, I wanted to put the macmini back in my living room as my HTPC... love front row!

If it wasn't for the multi-monitor or multiple audio ports, I would have continued running the mac mini (and Carnetix P1900).

you still using the Carnetix P1900? is is V2.2?

Did you have FM radio from mp3car running on it?

Thanks for the input, so far it's running really well and as for multi monitor I'm thinking of running a USB vid for the rear display.

I am still using the P1900... I love that there was cable kits for both the MacMini and AOpen MiniPC!! It is ver 2.2

I have both a RadioShark and DLink USB Radio, but haven't been able to get either of them working.

Good idea on the USB video. Thinking I may try that route since the composite "TV-out" video quality is VERY poor on my AOpen.

After a little research last night I decided to use a Matrox DualHead2Go or Triple, the digital version...very nice with full mac support or XP.

    mac mini and gps

i have a mac mini installed and the BU-353. the signal is strong as the gps is mounted outside. the problem is the map lags behind quite a bit. even when I stop the it will still say i'm moving up to a min and a half after i've stopped. this is on the latest version of streetdeck. any ideas?

That's because you probably don't have a plug-in to make them work. Unfortunately, you cannot just plug in any ole radio and expect it to work. StreetDeck has to know what it is and know what to do with it. Through our testing, we have found that currently there isn't an FM radio solution on the market that meets our standards, so the developers have not spent the time developing plug-ins for them. Instead, they have been working on the software for the HD Radio (BoomzBox) that we have coming out soon.

The problem I see with this (I am running SD on an Mac Mini) is that the computer will still read it as one monitor. So SD will still not let you play movies while driving because it does not realize you have two different screens. This is currently the only drawback I see to SD on a Mac Mini is that my kids can't watch videos while I am driving. Isn't that a reason to have a carputer in the first place?
