    Performance with VIA C7 1500MHz CPU ??

    Hi,

I actual plan to buy a mini ITX Board with Celeron M 1,73 GHz CPU.
Mainly because I can't imagine that the VIA System brings enough performance.

What are your experiences with VIA C7 1,5 GHz and SD ?

    - What FPS go fluently?
    - What's about button glow?
    - How about video playback?
    - Any other losings?

    Thanks for your advice !!
    Roland

512 MB RAM should be enouth for SD ??
And also hibernate should go faster as with 1GB...

    Any experiences??

    Thanks again !

out of my experience.. hibernate takes as long as how much memory you have IN USE.. not how much total memory you have..

for instance if you are using 256mb ram it takes (for arguments sake) 10 seconds

it will take 10 seconds if you have 1gb of total ram or 512Mb of total ram

however I can also tell you that I have yet to use more than 270Mb of ram at any time in my carpc... you just dont have THAT much stuff running at the same time...

I would save the few bucks and instead get a slightly faster processor..

I was running the MII12000 for the past two years. Was able to run StreetDeck on it without any problems. With 512 MB of ram.

I had it set to 45 fps as per the maximum beneficial FPS for StreetDeck per Chuck.

Button glow is a bit slow to respond, but it was the same on my laptop.

DVD playback was fine, I'm not sure about video stored on the HDD as I never used that.

StreetDeck performs well on just about any hardware such as EPIA based, Pentium III, and Pentium 4. The key to getting a rapid response is in the video memory allocation. If you have the ability to allocate 64MB or more to the video adapter then by all means do it. The performance will be fantastic.

The CPU speed really doesn't effect your StreetDeck experience nearly as much as the GPU speed.

The VIAs normally aren't as nice because they graphics chipset they use is usually subpar to the graphics chipsets used for intel boards. This isn't garunteed to be true, but is just generally how it works out.

Assuming the intel board is using a 915G or better and the VIA the typical S3 3D graphics chip, either will run StreetDeck acceptably well, but the Intel board will be noticably better.

I have a P4 1.5 and an old Geforce 4 MX440. It runs quite well... though the visualizations are a little sluggish. The specs should be in my sig.

Im thinking about upgrading the videocard to something more modern. I would like to run stuff a little quicker.

I have an MII 12000 with a PCI GeForceFX 5500 using a flexible pci riser. Streetdeck is super smooth and runs great on it.

Although.. I do have hibernation problems with getting the touch screen to work when I wake up, but it doesnt have to do with the geforce...

    I have (demo) StreetDeck with a 32MB Radeon 7000 PCI card on a 1.7ghz P4.

Graphics performance is fine as long as the resolution is 640x480 or so...anything much above 800x600 and the button highlight and animations are choppy.

I'll see if I can scrounge up a 64MB card for comparisions' sake given Carpcdomain's comment above.
