Oh I bet that title will spark a fire.....
I'm a newbie to GPS / Street deck and just dont have an eternity to read the entire forum....
Do I need an external app to run GPS with SD or just a USB GPS reciever?
I was thinking about buying MS streets and trips 2007 with reciever but if I dont need the software...... I'd likely go with the Bu-XXX. I will only be using this with SD.
Cheers,

for the full version you only need a GPS receiver... the map software is included in the FULL version of streetdeck...

Go with the Bu-XXX series from mp3car.com.... with full version of Streetdeck. After playing around with Delorme Earthmate and Streetdeck... had alot of problems.. go figure... anyways bought the Bu series.. and all problems just basically went away, the accuracy of the Bu series is great. All of this installed in my 2005 GMC Sierra....
Also...
Lite Version:
- No nav software included, as mentioned above. StreetDeck works with data from Microsoft Mappoint or (I believe) Streets and Trips, so if you can buy or obtain one of those two programs for less than $80 (the cost difference between the Lite and Full versions), you can come out ahead. This is the main advantage of purchasing the Lite software.
- No searching for Points of Interest by name, only by proximity. For example, you can't search for "McDonald's", but you can search for all POIs in the category "Restaurants" within 5, 2, 1, or 0.5 miles.
- No "high quality" nav voices...only the standard text-to-speech voices that come with Windows ("Microsoft Anna" is an example).
Full Version: Includes Nav software, as mentioned above.

Thanks all. I've ordered the bu-353 and have streets n trips 2006.
Can the SD crew not release an updated demo to incl. the NAV feature? I mean, I'd LIKE to buy the full version with NAV but if it's not going to work well for me........
FIVESLO-> where did you mount your GPS in the Sierra?

I would go for the full version with NAV.. simply because I only use NAV when I dont know how to get to my destination... in other words.. when I need any directions I can get.. and as long as it gets me to my destination(which it does).. it does what I need.
