I think it is snazzy software. I think the $200 pricetag is fine for those that are going to py for it. If you are going to pay for a frontend, you are willing to pay whatever. Both Centrafuse and Streetdeck are flashy awesome looking programs. I would never even dream about owning them, but they do look nice.

THe safety thing has been covered at nausia.

And you can't just steal SD. It is hardware tied. It has more security features than your standard XP install.

So if you go steal someones harddrive with SD on it, you may use their code as your own. But that is physically stealing a harddrive, not just code.

And I figure that sating this is ok, because warez mentioning is forbidden, but stating why the standard pirating methods wont work should be ok right?!

Because we would be prosecuted if we started beating a non-dead one.

What a stupid comment (and inaccurate as well, as 2k1 points out). That comment is especially ironic considering how you've detailed every expense or your own computer to the last $1.00 per the link in your signature.

Go back and play at piratesbay.org or where ever else it was you came from...but at least have the good sense and decency not to talk about stealing a software product in the developer's forum.

what does my outlining the costs of my carpc have anything to do with this? You can spoof the HDD's serial number quite easily. It hardly makes a difference, since I don't want to use streetdeck anyway. I am quite happy with RoadRunner. And btw, it's thepiratebay.org.

Well, ALL software can be cracked, it doesn't mind whatever system it uses.
If it has not been done with SD it's because it's not a well known application, probably crackers don't own a carputer, also frequent updates help at not having the program cracked.
But I reckon it's STUPID to mention it, specially in the forum where the developers post.

Why does everyone try to hide the fact that piracy happens? They spent a lot of time implimenting security features, but they can never be perfect. When you create a piece of commercial software, you realize the risk of piracy. That's why all my code is open source. I am not saying that I have pirated it, but I am saying that it can be done. Since I have done nothing wrong, why should I care if this is where the SD developers are?

No one is trying to "hide the fact that piracy happens"...the existance of piracy was not being discussed. Posts like yours are evidence that it does, in fact, occur. I concede that point.

I specifically have a problem with you posting that you would steal or contribute to the theft of the SD software in this forum because it's the equivalent of going to a retail store, picking up a product and verbally taunting the shop owner that you're planning to steal it. That sort of behavior is juvenile and rude.

You mean your not supposed to do that?!

Although reverse-crackers are an invalueable resource to a big company. THey hire the software gurus to crack their code, and tell them how they did it. Then that loophole is patched. And so on. Sort of a circle of life in the major software business.
