Priority Mail flat rate small box is only 13.25USD to the UK. (includes tracking #)
I wanted a switch cable for a 2009 Mac Mini (Carnetix CBL-088), which is $10 in the shop, but your website quotes $50 to ship to the UK
I almost fell off my chair when I saw that, especially as I had just ordered some stuff from New Zealand, it cost $9 shipping to the UK (for almost 750g weight) and arrived in 5 days.
A cable I have here for pre 2009 weighs less than 10g, so it can't be weight driven; if the UK were some place off the beaten track then I could understand it!
Unfortunately the only place in the UK that seems to stock the MacPac cables, only has the pre 2009 ones.
I wonder how much international business you guys are loosing because of your extortionate shipping charges
Would love to support you guys as the forum is an extremely valuable resource, but I'm not made of money
I would be happy to pay that, if that were available...
Mail is an expensive option here. I just put a small wifi/GPS antenna in my cart (value of $75) which weighs 255G and is only a few inches long and mail cost with NO tracking to just outside of Toronto Canada is $41.87. So, yes the international shipping is still rediculous. UPS option is only about $18 but then a guy with a brown truck and a mask shows up at the door demanding close to $100 right there on the spot before he will give me the box.
I just placed an order with Sonixelectronics about an hour ago. It was $150 worth of stuff and it will be at my door UPS for under $200. Even that is enough but thats tax included which is 13% around here and their prices amazingly low compared to buying local. Too bad they don't sell Car PC stuff.
They handle all of the border fees, tax collection, etc. up front and the shopping cart shows your aproximate actual cost for the stuff in $cdn landed at the door. I placed an order with them about a month ago and the stuff showed up from CA to my door in 4 days. Not bad!
I would place a lot more orders with MP3car for stuff if I didn't have to plan out a multi item order to make it worth the shipping/duty costs. One order I placed cost me about $80 at the door and the other was over $100. Both these orders were only $2-5 hundred each.
Have to admit that the shipping is one thing that does prevent me buying from the shop.
I find the shipping quite reasonable from MP3car store they offer me 3 levels of shipping, the middle service gets it here next day usually, the only fee's i ever pay at the door are 10.00 brokerage fee and the sales tax on the value of the products. SNO
I just found one of my invoices:
Value of goods: 275.38
Broker Fees: 66.55
Broker GST 3.33
Total COD at door $105.69
The middle choice in the shipping options is expedited which is why you would not pay much at the door fro brokerage but in the example above for the $75 antenna, the expedited shipping is $50.78

I concur with the OP, I would have bought most of my parts here if it weren't for extortionate shipping rates to Ireland.
Even in the US the shipping rates are ridiculous. If I want something as small as a cigarette power adapter or even a remote for a lilliput, they want $7 to ship it. First class mail in the US works for any parcel 13 ounces and under for under $3. Even flat rate priority mail is $5.
On your example of a single item @ < $10, they lost money on that sale after factoring in packaging, postage & labour to prepare your order but even if they put a premium on all orders under $25 for example, that would easily solve it. Most people could put together a $25 order.
