    2. Websites, A links list to basicly all the websites that known to man on this topic, and catagorize them like in INFO sites, sales sites, LCD sites, HDD sites, places to just look at a touchscreen layout (such as how the screen actualy looks), cases, motherboards, any and every kind of read you can think of on this topic

    3. personal suggestions based on use would be great for various items

    4. HOW-TO, anny and all how-to's on this forum should be compiled here (yeah search, but how many times can you say that to some one. if its put in a place where it can be easily accessed, u wont have multipul posts all over the place!!)
YES! Those are great things to post here, I am also a newbie and I've mostly been reading the forums. I finally have some money for a carputer but don't really know what to put it in or any idea how to put it in my car. If I had some links on what's out there (like "Here are some great LCDs http://great.lcd.site and you can find awesome motherboards here - http://awesome.motherboards that site even has laptop motherboards, used, for real cheap!) Searching is annoying when you don't know what you're looking for so a HOW TO section or links in this thread would be great (or sticky's, why isn't there a sticky for beginners like, building your first carputer, or something like that? Or did I just miss it?)

If you're just looking for GPIO stuff, you should look at the IO Warrior.
USB, up to 32 input/output pins. I don't have one yet, but I think I'll be ordering one soon.

Two points, from lots of experiance.

Cold effects hard drives with FDB (fluid dynamic bearings) by slowing the RPMs of the platters this reduces the chance to boot but does not hurt the drive at all. After it warms a a little it will boot just fine.

    Other drives are fine.

Running into a tree will cause the driver and other parts of the car far more trouble than the HD. My HD has been in 3 or 4 wrecks one bent the frame on my 91 toyota truck (totaled the truck). The HD is still in use.
