I use a Haicom HI-204E (with usb adapter) that I purchased with my Palm Tungsten C (lol my first 'carputer'.. crap) like 2 years ago... Still works great (the usb receiver, not the palm.. it's junk), locks on quick even from a cold start and has always been on point. :D
I've not tried all of these receivers but the bu-353 is definitely a lot better than the bu-303. Have any of those that voted for the 303 tried the 353 :D?
I get much better locks with the 353.
The Holux is also the Bolux :)

The BU-353 is way better than the Delorme LT-20 that it replaced. 30 max to a fix and I always have at all but maybe 2 satilites locked. It even had a fix on the 3rd level of a 6 level parking garage! All this from inside the car.
My only gripe is the top came off one day as I was driving. I am not sure why, but that is the reason it is in the car now.
I wonder though... Can you use the BU-353 mounted under your rearview mirror, facing toward the sky and have it work just as accurately as if it were on your roof?
The other thing I was wondering, the Bluetooth variant of it, if that were rooftop mounted, would it still work just as well?
That's a pretty good idea. I was planning on mounting the GPS somewhere on the dashboard, but it could be more stealth if installed on the back of the rear view mirror.
I've been wanting a current thread discussing what is the Best GPS reciever now. Or at least the best bang for your buck
The New Microsoft 2007 puck (pharos?) That comes with Streets and Trips 07 can be bought on ebay for $70ish.
Thats around the same price as the BU-353 sans software
Holux units are just slightly cheaper. All support SiRF III. So... Which is better.
Surprised Pharos or Microsoft puck isnt on the list above
