    hehe - I like seeing other people write this stuff up. The thought hadn't crossed my mind for something like this honestly. It's all basic knowledge for me and many others that we just tend to take for granted, unfortunately.

    It's because of people like you that these threads get started in the first place! And that's a good thing!

    I know whatchya mean, My friend gives me a confounded look anytime i say anything about do anything with my car. But he still wants to help me do the interior. I cant wait for my screen to get here, lol auction ends today, i still havnt won... just yet.

    Im SOOOO excited.

    As far as the audio goes, Could you give me some pointers on the best way, and the least workably espensive way to bypass the headunit?

    For example, apparently i was wrong about what components do (big supprise there, lol) so what do you really need for a good sounding system? apparently from what ive learned with some threads a headunit should act as a crossover, and an EQ, andd most amplify the signal, so do you really need all those components?

    Not to mention if this is to sound BEST without breaking the bank (ild say $400-$600 is ok for good parts, not including speakers) what would you want to look for?

    and if you were just going to replace it el cheapo style, wouldnt a good 4 channel amp work? (then you could adjust its fade and balance through the amp (im assuming here)

    Thanks again for your input

    If by "least expensive" you mean with as few accessories that one has to buy, then in my opinion it'd be this:
    Source (CarPC/iPod/CD Player/$1 FM Radio) --> Amp (1/2/4/5/6 Ch.) --> Speakers (Subwoofers/Components/Tweeters/etc.)
    Battery --> Fuse --> Amp(+)
    Amp(-) --> Ground on the chassis
    Acc. wire (tap to it at the former HU location, power antenna, etc.) --> Amp(remote)

    Extra things like:
    Wire lengths, sizes ,and types, adapters, connectors, and labor all vary from one setup to the next.

    If anyone knows of a more basic "diagram" than what I described, please post here.
    For Sale: Carputer (CarPC) & RCA Y-Adapter

    Its funny with this entire thread, everytime i check on mp3car, Sombodys always posted here at almost the exact same time....

    And thanks for your input!

    I'm assuming a more advanced all features type setup would include an EQ or possibly a crossover, and thats mainly the diffrence (besides quality of components)?
