I know this is super old threat but, I had many of these problems listed here and a bios update fixed my main problem which was power failures. I hope this info helps others with this board.

Mr. Trunks, can you post the link to page of the file you are using, or at least the name of the file version? I know it is always a major pain for people to find the JetWay BIOS updates etc. Mine is still working perfectly, not one single hiccup, but I would be curious to see which BIOS rev you are using as compared to mine.

    thanks

It was a combination of 2 things to get it working:

    1) Clear CMOS, remove the processor, remove the RAM and power up. Re-plug in the processor and RAM and power up.

This gave me a BIOS beep as before... but no VGA.... so then:

    2) Leaving a power supply connected to the motherboard but switched OFF, cleared the CMOS

...rebooted and now it's all working again!

I wonder if it's all down to the CMOS process not being right, and the mobo needing the PSU connected for some bizarre reason!
Well, I finally got round to looking at some problems with my CarPC randomly hard powering off and found some major wiring issues with the Mo-Co-So box. After temp. sorting these out to check things behaved my box again got to the point where it wouldn't POST at all.

I was down last gasp alley when I remembered I'd posted these instructions before... and I can confirm that:

    1) Remove all components (RAM, CPU)
    2) Clear CMOS by shorting the relevant pins on the mobo
    3) Power up with NO components installed
    4) Replace all components
    5) Power Up

....sorts out whatever the problem is. *Phew*

I finally grew intolerent towards my Xenarc 'Power Off' issue and decided to do something about it.

My mobo. is the J9F2-KHDE-PB which was running BIOS version A01.

I sent an email to Jetway to see if I could get version A03 or A04 as some people have suggested in these threads....but I've not yet had a reply. And I got a bit of spare time to do stuff....so decided what the heck and decided to give version A07 a try.

Here's the link to the files I used:

    BIOS Update version A07 - http://www.jetwaycomputer.com/downlo...S/J9F2KA07.BIN

    WinFlash utility - http://www.jetwaycomputer.com/download/WINFLASH.ZIP

Follow the instructions outlined here: http://www.jetwaycomputer.com/winflash.html on how to update the BIOS with the WinFlash utility. Patience is a big factor, often the UI does not respond as it's doing something but eventually you get the dialogs as the documentation states.

I'm using a Xenarc IDT700 connected through the VGA port. As far as I have been able to narrow down, my problem was that an unsuccessful Windows shutdown resulted in my M2ATX doing a hard-off, which then resulted in the VGA failing to initialise on boot.

Since updating to BIOS A07, I've been able to confirm that the VGA now successfully boots consistently from the VGA port in both a Hard Off, and normal windows shutdown.

I haven't spotted any residual effects of this BIOS update - except Windows is now constantly badgering me about HDMI drivers - one of which (hdaudbus.sys) it can't find in c:\Windows\Driver Cache. I need to resolve that, as if I try to get the driver located, Windows tarts around with my default Audio devices and swaps out my Nio 2|4 driver from being the default sound device. (If I leave the driver dialog alone, everything behaves as it should, bar the dialog constantly appearing).

There appears to be lots of new options for setting the boot display (I set mine to be 'Auto' - 800 x 600 - it defaults to 'Auto' - 1024 x 768) and left another display option as being 'CRT' (the default - I was a bit wary of setting this to LCD in case things went backward.)

The acid test will be tomorrow morning, and over the next few weeks where there'll be plenty of very cold starts... and I'll update this both tomorrow and after a few weeks.

In summary, from the face of it, it seems jumping from BIOS version A01 to A07 is fine, and resolved the problem of the VGA display behaving erratically.

It's been a couple of days now, and I can't fault this BIOS update so far.

The monitor has fired up flawlessly since the update, regardless of whether or not the PSU hard-offs.

Here's the link for the J7F2 Bios update. Click Bios in the middle of the page.

And for the record, it didn't help. Shopping for a new mb now.
