I finally got my jetway board to work....I changed it out with my backup (pain in the ***) but the same ****e happened... called jetway a bunch of times... no real help other than they thought it was the intel drivers too. upgrded the bios to A05 (correction: may have been A04) and didn't F with anything video related in the bios.
everytime I did on the old bios it would go black. but eventually I did adjust the settings in bios for 800x600 etc. it has been working for a while now, but keep in mind I do full startups/shutdowns in my setup, no sleep or hibernation.

Yup, just connect the crt, then unplug it and reconnect the Xenarc, poof, display works. No changing anything.
I also feel its the Intel driver, I just cant understand why when it happens you dont get any video in POST? I mean there are no "drivers" loaded at that point, I would assume there is "firmware" stuff that comes from the hardware, but if thats bad, it would either work or not work, not work sometimes. I mean anything written to the hardware shouldnt change from boot to boot. All the stuff in the bios seems to stay the same.Originally Posted by 2k1Tostare:1193236
Hmm ? didnt know that. The Post on the board seems pretty fast, and a full load of windows (full install Win XP Home SP2) from a regular full shutdown seems to load in a reasonable amount of time. If I start it, it post's, windows loads and Centrafuse is loading before I get out of my garage, hit the door close and pull out of the drive way.Originally Posted by 2k1Toaster:1193236
Not sure how I would "uninstall the intel drivers", do you mean just do it in add/remove programs ? Wont Windows just go to reinstall them the next time I boot?
If there were other drivers I could use, I might forgo the hibernation if I could be assured of a trouble free reliable boot?

If you dont sleep or hibernate, ditch the intel drivers. Just use the regular XP drivers.
Can you give me a short description of how to get this done?

Hmm? havent screwed with the bios yet, maybe I should go see what version Im running.
Thanks.

You are probably on version A01. Even the two replacement boards that I received, that had different color connectors and seemed updated, still came loaded with A01.
The easiest way to upgrade the BIOS (since there is no floppy!) is to use a USB card reader and create a boot disk on a CF card, along with awdflash.exe and the A04 bin file.
There definately is some wierd crap going on with the BIOS and also the intel driver thing, or maybe a combination of the Xenarcs with this MB, but now I feel that it is a solvable problem, as I have been running great for over 3 weeks now. Get the new BIOS and report back... if you need a copy of the awdflash and bin files let me know, but you will also need some HP utility out there that can turn a CF card into a bootable device... but I forget what it is at the moment...
Well you are lucky you can even get to the BIOS. Mine wouldnt boot at all.
Anyways to uninstall the Intel drivers just go to the device manager and right click the display controllers and uninstall.

Would windows not just say "Found new Hardware" and reinstall them when I reboot?
Wanna be clear on this before I go screwing things up for no reason.

Ya, I probably should do this. Also, just for your information, I read about a utility that will flash your bios right from within windows. If I do it I'm gonna go look for that.

I have gotten this motherboard to be quite stable thus far. I did have this video blank issue occuring with the DVI port coming out of standby - where the CRT port would always work.
Anyway, I found that the A04 bios is the culprit. Going back to my "saved" A03 is all around better. Faster POST as well since it does not have the AHCI bios loader crap that is in A04.
Multiple reboots and going in and out of standby seem to be working well... (knock on wood). No more problems with lost video...
I am attaching a zip file with an "unflash.bat" file that I ran to "unflash" back to A03 (booting off of a USB flash drive created using the HP format tool and an image of Win98 DOS). The file called "old.bin" is the bios image that I saved prior to flashing to A04 (it is A03 dated 10/2007)
just so you know, for me, it was going from A01 to A04 that fixed mine...so ultimately, it may not be all the bios version per se, but just installing a new one may help. I am still doing great with A04. But yea that extra bios loader stuff is a pain, and I haven't figured out how to bypass it... but gonna f with it much anymore... Again, I think this is one of THE most capable car pc motherboards available....if you can get it up and running. I don't think there is a faster MB out there with as many features. That is why it is a shame that something a stupid as a bios/video issue is holding back near perfection. Oh yea and they could also add 800x480 to the default res options![]()
Thanks a lot guys, just good to know 1) Im not the only one who has this problem and 2) There may be a light at the end of the tunnel (I just hope its not a train).
I picked up a usb floppy so falshing the bios shouldnt be too hard. Guess Ill try A04 and see from there. Just gotta get the time to take it out of the car to get it done.
When I get it done Ill post the results.
Thanks again.
