I live in nyc and I get average speed of 700kbs and up to a few mbs on ppc6700.
I use sprint and about 3 years ago for whatever reason sprint call me and ask me if I wanted free unlimited internet/unlimited mbs ofcourse I said yes.
is fast is reliable and is free and it is almost too good to be true but it is
btw I have sprint and verizon service here in nyc and I dont see any different between both other than sprint is a bit faster and less expensive.
I hook up my ppc6700 using bluetooth to my laptop and I freaking love it.
oh just so u guys know, the cnet speed thinging is not accurate. try using more than one source.

Can you get that service added on to friends and family so you can use multiple cards for 1 price?

I got 1500 from dslreport and speedtest the other day... also I found an ext antenna on ebay that split the connector that goes to the card and the actual antenna so I don't have to worry about wear the connector off.

    Thanatos.

no, each card has it's one phone number and must be paid for individually.

I tried. I originally wanted one for the car and one for the laptop, but they can't do it...yet?

I have the V620, I wouldnt recommend the PC5740 because tests have determined it to be the slowest.
Also it doesnt work with the Kyocera KR1 Router, SO THAT SUX!
    That router is the bomb!
And it's not that Mac friendly...
So go for the other 2 the V620 and the Kyocera card from Verizon.

Sorry MobiTekLink....but telling people that they should switch carriers for something like this isn't very valid.

However, if you have some links to tests they would be appreciated.

whether your using sprint or verizon. im sure your locked into a 2 year agreement for the service. so switching is not an option. both sprint and verizon use the 5740 card, and yes it is the worst card they offer. the 620 or the 650 are lightyears ahead for signal reception. both services are good IF you have good reception. the worse your reception the slower the speed. I went from a 5220 card getting 50kb/s and i had to have an external antenna on it the whole time. to the 650 which i average 80kb/s and I found I have a better signal with just the card and no externall antenna. the 5740 cards flaw is you cant hook an external antenna to it without hacking it, and the reception is down at the bottom comparitivly.

Id see if you could complain enough at a corporate store to get them to upgrade your card red. keep taking it in for reception problems. you never know they might upgrade you to get you to quit coming in. :P Ive had it happen before on cell phones.

So far I'm happy with the speed. My speeds apparently are on par with others when I'm in a high speed area.

When I'm in a 'dial-up' area, I'm on par as well.

800 kbps isn't low from what I've seen, not for this area.

and when I'm at th house, which is supposed to be 'dial-up' speeds, I'm recieving 300 kbps.

So all of this talk about it being slow, I'm just not experiencing it.

not so much slow. youd get better speeds with better reception. the 5740 card has no external antenna and doesnt get good reception internallly. that was also the problem with my first card, it had no reception in certain places unlike my cell phoone that had full bars at the same spot. the only way i was able to get the card to work was an external antenna. thank god for that.

Im glad your having good luck with your card for the most part. I was talking signal reception nnot speeds. but on these cell cards the 2 are directly related. the better the signal the faster the speed,
