I can see the serial port on my pc and RR connects to it.
I will try just typing the port number when I get home tonight. Thanks
device manager, I meant the host pc, to see if the virtual serial port is showing up there.
I've not tried to share the port to be honest, so I don't know anything about the alternative methods. Have you tried to type the serial port name in anyway? because I know you can type text in that field directly (in the emulator config I mean)

The RTM of the deviceemulator v2.0 has just been released. Any experiences yet? Testing it now.

Has anybody had their Graphics card crash because of the device emulator? I have had a few very unpleasant experiences where I get a green stripe pattern that normally indicates memory problems, but only comes if I have the version 1 of the emulator running or version 2 (not this last RTM, the previous release) installed (that one doesn't have to be running). Annoying as hell! I have two Radeon X1600 in my carputer.
Edit: This may have been caused by a quirk in the motherboard, with a Molex plug on the board that should not be used.

Typing the port number didn't work. Maybe the new emulator release will solve this. Will download and have a try.
Hurray. Just tried the new emulator release and the saving com port problem is fixed.
You need to change the batch file to point to a new location though. For some reason it gets installed in Microsoft Device Emulator\1.0 ?? go figure.
Still cant get a port splitter to work with the emulator and RoadRunner for example. Any ideas on that would be greatly appreciated
Yeah, I saw the same thing about installation. Talk about stupid mistake! But I too have the port problem solved, so that in itself is worth the upgrade! But I too am trying to get a port splitter working, and I too come up empty. Annoying as heck!
But is this version eathing more CPU than the previous 2.0 version? It seems like that to me, but I may be wrong.

Well after 2 days of messing around and reading through this thread, I finaly got tomtom 6 working with usb gps @ 640x480x16 /memsize 256.
So Thank you for all your advice.
I am using mde v2 8.0.60317.00 and this has the port problem when saved while its working, I see from the 2 replys above there is now a fix for this, could someone point me in the right direction ?
Thanks again
here you go. Just down load and reinstall. I found you needed to uninstall the old version because the new one installs in a new directory (under version 1.o for some strange reason). You'll also need to change your batch file to the new directory location
