Don't use a com port over 9, it causes nothing but problems.

I have tried to follow the instructions three times now without success. The problem is you say that I should find file this and file that and I don't I have searched my PDA several times for currentmap.dat and I can not find it at all and I also seam unable to get the emulator to run too. Back to the drawing board for the SatNav unless you can tell me where I'm going wrong

I got several problems after installing TT6 via emulator v2.0

I followed the procedure as mentioned above.

    problem 1:
When installing TT6 and setting all the settings (like time format and voice) TT is freezing for a minute!

    problem 2:
    I have a Adapt AD-300 (http://www.adapt-mobile.com/download...il.php?p_id=17)
Via Bluetooth. I connect with Vista and get:
COM3: outbound (BT GPS 'SPP Slave')
    COM18: inbound (BT GPS)

So vista sees my gps. What exactly do I have to set in de emulator (which serial port to which com; com3 or com18).
In TomTom which type gps should I choose. And connect via which port (com3, com18 or serial port com1)

I also tried Sygic (http://www.carputerforum.nl/carpc/showthread.php?t=3761). that is without Emulator.
Even there I had troubles connecting my GPS.

I had a play with this tomtom running on PC a few years back but its pretty much pointless now.

    1) TomTom is outdated
    2) Its slow
    3) Its patchy.
    4) Plenty of GPS for PC now, Sygic Drive, Igo8, Garmin...

TomTom no longer support the PDA or mobile platform. AFAIK Version 6 is the last one.

    2) Its slow >>>
Its slow because its running using an emulator, run a proper PC navigation and you will see the difference.

    3) Its patchy >>>
Need an emulator on top, resolution is limited, GPS connection is flakey..etc etc. The whole thing relies on how good the emulator is and its never gonna be 100% right.

After years of updating TomTom to the next level and now having a carPC, it was hardto understand that there was more than TT only.

I installed Sygic Drive. and WOW!
    - 3x faster, compared to TomTom
    - works perfect with my frontend road runner
    - better graphics (it took a couple of minutes to get used to it)

So no problems for me anymore with windows mobile emulator.

I am considering buying Sygic Drive but having read this review:
    http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/sygicdrive.php
I am reconsidering. I see you have been using the software since May - would you mind telling me your opinion, especially about the routing?
If anyone else can suggest an alternative to TT which I use on a PDA I would appreciate it.
I travel in many places in the world and need as many Country maps as possible available.
    TIA

Hi. I'm sitting with the new software - emulator installed and TomTom is very slow.. The emulator works fine.... All PPC software is also working. If I start up Tomtom, it works ok in starting up and then takes forever to open menus ect... which it does after making coffee.... Is there anything I can change to speed this up?... did I do something wrong in the config or installation...?
