That's what i tried. But tomtom installer doesn't like activesync.
I opened the 2257 map and installed ttncab manually and deleted autorun files after the installation. I wish i could embed it in any frontend. POI's and maps are wonderful. Destinator isn't that good and doesn't have the maps i may need (specially east europe).

wow very complicated
i installed tomtom and run
tomtom doesn't want to see my gps mouse;
There are three options if you want to setup your gps mouse
com3
com9
serial cable on com1
i put my gps on 3, 9 and 1 but no result.
btw i used another method to install Tomtom
it may help people who wants to install tomtom thru storage card without activesync which may cause problems and weaken your pc.
1 make a storage folder c:/Storage Card
2 install device emulator and "emulator images for windows mobile" 5.0
3 create a txt file and paste this
"C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Device Emulator 2.0 Preview\DeviceEmulator.exe" "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Windows Mobile 5.0 MSFP Emulator Images\pocketpc.nb0" /s "C:\pocketpc.dess" /p /sharedfolder "C:\Storage Card" /vmname TomTom /video 640x480x16 /memsize 256 /u1 com1
in text file and rename it to install.bat
4 Run this wait for a while. Pocket pc emulator is going to start first time. After that save state and exit. Make a copy of your state somewhere.
5 Make a shortcut to that adress:
"C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Device Emulator 2.0 Preview\DeviceEmulator.exe" /s "C:\pocketpc.dess" /nosecurityprompt
and call it TomTom
6 start TomTom by double clicking. Start device emulator manager and you'll see TomTom running. Right click on TomTom and choose Cradle. Be sure "No security promt" is checked.
7 put TomTom data and maps in c:/Storage Card and hard reset the emulator
Untill that point you have to follow almost same steps as Sama's method
9A After reset you will see TomTom's autorun screen and installation instructions follow it. Lucky you.
9B If emulator crashes after reset, autorun may cause it. Relocate your state's backup you made at the begining. This will avoid autorun.
In pda go to start menu>programs>search and search for ttn. click on it.
That will install the TomTom Navigator choose install on device when asks.
After the installation goto desktop or programs. Start it set the settings, save your state and exit.

use serial 1 within tomtom, and map the serial port of your gps mouse to serial port 0 in the emulator configuration. it should then work
-
hey sama i did exactl what you said and it worked fine
second smoothest thing i've ever seen (first thing was **** from ducks ***)
now i will try to make one exe and put it in launch menu
but i don't think you can communicate with emulator thru RR
but tomtom database seems amazing
-
you can, use the keys 1-6. they map to the menu items
you can also use shift, tab, +, - and a few others. you can discover them... in fact, if you do, it would be good to get a list of them here.

Hi, I followed the guide and everything went smooth until the bit when im goign to install Tomtom 3, does this work with Tomtom 3?
When the installation pops up and I go trough the install and after i choose to install The application itself the whole install crashes and i get a windows error message.
The Emulator works fine and everything gets connected in Activesync. :S

be sure no security prompt is checked during the installation. it may happen if emulator doens't have access to a file.
Otherwise use your backup .state and try again. Sometimes it helps.

Osires, perhaps tomtom is not compatible with Windows Mobile 5 (which is what this emulator is doing). I would advise you get hold of tomtom 5, or use a pocketpc 2002 image.
