Okey, that sounds like it can be the problem, Tomtom 3 is a old app and uses PPC 2002 so it could be difficult for Windows Mobile 5.
Where can i get hold of Pocket Pc 2002 image? Windows site or do you have a link?

here you go. I think you can only get ppc 2003 or wm5. but hey, it's worth a shot. the old images work on the new emulator.
good luck
Please help!
If at start with line /u0 com6 emulator is not started and gives out a mistake of access to COM to port!
( "C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Device Emulator 2.0 Preview\DeviceEmulator.exe" "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Windows Mobile 5.0 MSFP Emulator Images\pocketpc.nb0" /s "C:\pocketpc.dess" /p /sharedfolder "C:\Storage Card" /video 800x600x16 /memsize 256 /u0 com6 )

If I start line /u1 com6 that all it is started and through the menu I can establish serial port 0. But if save state, and start emulator it the mistake about access to com will be besides given out to port.
( "C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Device Emulator 2.0 Preview\DeviceEmulator.exe" /s "C:\pocketpc.dess" /nosecurityprompt )
What a problem?
I've had similar problems before. is the serial port a bluetooth one?
it maybe that it's not paired up in time, and you may have to establish a connection prior to starting the emulator.
I use GPS USB BU-353. As I try to connect Bluetooth GPS. What difference is not present. Simply very much it is not convenient use the emulator not through SAVE STATE.
And if to establish /u1 the emulator does not find GPS device.
I can should still to install something?
same hapens to me via usb receiver but i plug it in first and it starts up fine - not sure if it works yet though - i am having other problems though but am getting there!!Quote:

also for some reason when i downloaded it was ppc emulator 1.0 not 2.0 - again a quick change to the string solved that problem (when i say quick i mean bloody ages working it out and 2 secs to change it!)
hope this helps those having the same problems

that's interesting. perhaps instead of using a shortcut, a batch file can be used. it would be a annoying since the batchfile will stay there (a command window)

only /u0 works. I really don't understand the state saving method. sometimes it works, sometimes it does't.
you can use a utitlity called autohotkey, which allows you to automate keyboard shortcuts and mouse clicks. that way, you can always start with no serial device, and when the emulator start, you can get autohotkey to put the serial on then start tomtom. it's not the best solution, but it's better than having to do it manually.

batch files? sorry mate im just a pleb who doesnt know much about such things - never having had to - its all trial and lots of errors for me. i have started to rewrite your instructons as they work for me - not got there yet though (the working bit) though im almost sorted - just need to work out the copying files from the emulater to storagec - hope you dont mind me rewriting the instructions with more detail - only because as a pleb i had to try to work out what you meant - thanks for your work so far though - credit to you for getting me this far
rewriting it from others point of view is excellent. that's what it's all about.
here's some info on batch files
hey guys, im going to try this out tonight or tomorrow..

does it run full screen with all the sound blah blah just like the normal tom tom gos ? :)
