well.. it would be to buy my optional wall wart (dc adaptor)
just connect 12vdc to red and yellow (black, gnd)
the antenna is a bit tricky in a house...
I never got around to trying this, but it might work. I considered shaving my antenna a while back, but did not want to lose my radio. So what I was going to do was find the longest mast antenna i can find (if it's amplified, even better) that would fit behind my bumper cover. Make sure it's mounted directly to metal. Even the best one mounted this way will probably still give you worse reception than a basic one mounted on your fender, but it may be something worth a shot.

Hi Mitch, Thanks so much for replying to my questions. If you don't mind (I'm new at this as you can tell), did you mean connect the 12vdc of the factory radio harness to the red and yellow of the Visteon? Thanks again!
hu?
for home use, just tie red and yellow to 12vdc (like u would in a car)
for carpc use... tie red and yellow together to say HARD DRIVE 12V DC (YELLOW)
-Thanks
Mitch

Mitch: What's the fastest way to buy a cable from you?
I just got myself the DIRECTED receiver brand new for $30 yesterday (bought it on eBay, local pickup) so I'm extremely excited and want it working in the car already![]()

I have been incredibly frustrated with my Visteon for a while now. It wouldn't pick up anything but one station in the car, an Hispanic station, and I don't speak Spanish LOL!
Was about to throw in the towel but while trying a different antenna yesterday, which didn't work BTW, I discovered that my Kenwood HU is TURNING OFF the power to the antenna amp. when I switch the HU from the tuner to the Aux. input, which is where the carpc connects in.
I was testing the Visteon in a different way yesterday and had the Kenwood tuner going and the Visteon worked great! Turn the Kenwood to a different input and the antenna amp. is turned off and then nothing. So my stupid HU has been the culprit all along. ARRRGH! Time to rewire the antenna amp. to switched power instead of the Kenwood's antenna power wire.
Just wanted to mention this in case anyone else runs into this problem. I know most people using this setup don't also have a HU but to support the kids' video requirements in the back it works better to have a dual zone HU in the car.
Thanks again Mitch for the software, it's a big help when testing things out!

I was getting close to dumping it for sure.
What works now is the diversity antenna built into the car. I was trying one of those hidden antennas for hot rods and such that I bought from a car shop thru Ebay. Trying it in the garage it didn't work at all, but my garage is a bit of an RF trap so I was doubly surprised that the car's antenna was working, and that it was working so well!
I'll test the hidden antenna some more on the road before I proclaim it a dud. It might work okay for some car applications.
