OMG just installed the hd cable, 1000x better than my usb turner. Been without real radio for almost 2 years, thank you so much!!!!!

argh... hd radio... just another $100 feature i want. i cant decide if this would be a good route, or better to just upgrade my deck to an hd one and bypass the computer. right now, i use my deck for FM radio and i like it being separate from the pc (works when the pc isnt)

Its actually just as good as your deck if it is also HD. You can most def hear the difference. What is nice is that the HD Radio connects to your cars antenna, not like the cr@ppy USB radio mods that do not work. Because the HD Radio was built for the car, it works in the car and Car PC. Also if you have no HD stations, the HD Radio can also pickup Analog signals. No other radio solution for the PC can touch this.

i have here at my house: HDRadio, Silabs USB Radio, HQCT, RadioShark....

NONE come close to performance to the HD Radio!!!!
the HD tuner, like hijack points out, is made for the car, the others....well...

yeah i understand a digital signal is overall better then the oldschool, broadcast television has shown us that.

my question i have is, since i kept my deck in my system and use it for radio and cd's... would it be better to spend $100+ on a hd-radio kit for my carpc or would it just be better to put that money into a new deck that has the hd built in? i honestly like the idea of having it inside my headunit rather then the computer.

well... if u put it that way, rip out ur car pc and get a killer double din head unit, with hdradio and ipod... the alpine is SWEEET

but if u want total flexibility (and for it to consume alot of your time), stick with the carpc, and no need for a head deck

It really all depends on what you want. I personally hate having a middle man (HU) in the setup. We are supposed to pioneering the future, not holding onto old components, in the end though, its what you feel comfortable with.
