did you try just playing an mp3 player or other source through line-in to verify that its working?
The cable is new...just ordered from you a couple weeks ago.
I'll mess around some more tomorrow and see what happens, but I did everything you mentioned. I'm on XP and have the line-in port visible in the mixer for playback and it's not muted. As mentioned, I even tested the mic in with no-go as well.
I'll double check everything tomorrow again. Maybe reinstall .net, maybe reinstall RR, maybe unregister/reregister the dll again. We'll see...but not looking good so far.

dont waste you time, if HD Radio PCR runs..... .net is FINE
work on how ur mixer works.... remember SOME do NOT HAVE LINE-in available on the PLAYBACK side of the mixer... if that is true, you CANNOT listen to the audio(unless u runnning windows 7) the audio must be CAPTURED!!!!!!
when it comes to standalone programs, SATAMP will capture
winamp's line in plugin will capture
(which is what u would do in RideRunner)
I BET this is your issue.... not having a sound device with line-in on the playback side of the mixer....
or a hidden mixer input... access advanced section in windows xp mixer...

I'm 99.9% sure that I was looking at the playback side of the mixer and the line-in and I was muting and unmuting. I will double check tomorrow...maybe it was the recording side and I wasn't paying attention.
utd: I was able to get sound using the cable/display from the HD radio going into the line in of the computer. So, at the very least, the connection is working and feeding audio through.
Just went out to the car to verify...I was looking at the mixer correctly; playback side and line-in, so that wasn't the issue.
Now, the last two times I was in the car, the HD radio isn't detected on the com port anymore. So, it's either the cable or the HD unit. I will hook up the cable/display again tomorrow to double-check.
But I really thinks it's something with the computer or the cable.
OK, it is something with the computer:
1. Hooked up the cable display that came with the HD radio and with the computer off, there was audio. Once the computer turns on, no audio.
2. The HDRadioPCR app never has audio because the computer is on. The line-in is unmuted.
Since I am upgrading my MB anyway, I won't try to troubleshoot this further for now. I do have a quick question, though. If I were to simply run the RCAs from the HD radio to the amp (or my hardware mixer), how is the volume adjusted? Can the PC cable still adjust the volume of the HD unit?
What about adjusting the volume of the HD radio with the PC completely out of the picture? I didn't see any volume buttons on the display unit.
Thanks
there is no volume, its fixed output
also, i have had 0 bad cables... try it on another pc
bring it all inside

Why wouldn't there be audio with the computer off? I guess the computer doesn't need to be on for the line in/out to work. It must be a passive connection.
Anyway, searching through the forums I saw one person that had a bad cable and one person has something weird with their line-in as well. But, like I said, I am buying and building a new PC, so I'm not troubleshooting this particular PC any longer. It could be a million things at this point, which I don't want to waste more time troubleshooting.
I'm getting a new mobo/cpu, psu, and maybe case. So, that should put to rest whether one of those is causing the problem.
On that note, since it's been probably 4 years or so since I built my first CarPC, what would you guys recommend for a new CarPC that fits under the passenger seat (so it has to be small enough and relatively quiet)?
I'm currently looking at the new Zotac boards (either the dual core Atom or and LGA775 board to use Core2 Duo. I'm going to get an SSD as well...my whole goal here is to have as quick of a cold boot as possible. For the PSU, I'm completely open, but currently I have the M1-ATX and it has served it's purpose well. Should I be looking at a different psu other than the mx-atx line? DSATX? For the case I currently have the original VoomPC case. Again, it served it's purpose, but I can go a little bigger and still fit under the passenger seat. That case is so small, it was difficult to work with and no provisions for a CD drive, etc. Depending on the PSU I pick, I may need a little bigger case anyway.
So, anyone can list any pros/cons to different psus, cases, dual core atom vs core2 duo...I would appreciate it. I know most of the info is floating around here and on the web, but any time saved in my research is very much appreciated.
Anyone running a Core2 Duo and have it mounted under the seat? Too loud with the fans? That's my only reason on maybe going with the dual core atom. The power consumption shouldn't be much of an issue, since the Core2 Duo is 65 W.
Thanks again
i'm running a core2 system that sits under the back bench of my Explorer.. check out my carpc specs under my profile if you're curious.. it works great.
but of course, i'd suggest reading the forums cause there isn't an easy answer on what to buy... besides being off-topic for this thread.
btw, the fact that you are getting audio piped through your sound card even when it's off has me puzzled but i can't argue if that's what is happening :-p definitely try out Mitch's suggestion and see if you can hook it up to a different PC altogether
