well I got everything working and really enjoyed what I heard (pens game last night - that was a letdown from what I caught). I noticed that on the box from crosslakessales the visteon hd receiver had a bestbuy sticker for $200 on it. I'm beginning to question whether the recievers were obtained legally or what...
Mine had a best buy sticker on it also but no price. Mine looked like the box had been opened but everything inside looks new and was still wrapped in plastic. The seller has a ton of them listed along with a ton of other items and great feedback so Im sure he obtained them legally. Perhaps a sell off in an area with no HD signals?
I picked up a cheapy $15 flat blade antenna from my local kragen. I could probably get even better reception if I ponied up more dough on a more quality amplified antenna.
Hope that helps.
I used this one.
Metra universal amplified antenna kit.
Just did a test comparison reception-wise w/ the OEM HU vs. the HD radio+antenna and its ALMOST as good as the HU.
Head towards the signal about 1/2-1 mile from my home and reception and clarity was the same. Drive 2 more miles in and then the HD transmission comes in and it sounds great.
Sal R. what kind of car do you have?
Sal drives from the looks of his avatar a turbo charged AWD audi. I would have guessed an S4 but his title says A4.
To tell you the truth my head unit sucks as far as reception goes so this tuner stomped it hands down.
I also got the universal glass antenna from metra but I did not noticed any difference with my stock antenna, Im still getting a lot of static on some channels...any one know of a good glass antenna or maybe a "working" fm booster?
