Yup, "ant in". checked that right away.

I'm leaning toward an antenna problem also...........

does the car have a "normal" antenna, or is it amplified?
is there a 31" mast on your car?

and i would ground the rca, it makes it sound so much better
otherwise your sound card/pc cant get a good ground reference for the audio signal
    -Thanks

The car has an in glass antenna with an amplifier but I haven't used it yet because it's got a smaller motorola plug than standard. The aftermarket antenna I've tried wasn't 31", quite a bit shorter actually. I'll check it out.

I'l try a jumper form the ground to the rca, sort of makes sense when you explain it that way. I'm skeptical, but it's worth a try I guess..........

Nope. I'm using a "mast style" antenna I picked up at a local auto supply store for trials. Looks to be around 20-24 inches long.

The car is equiped with an antenna incorporated into the rear window glass from the factory. However, I am NOT using that, just the mast style right now.

Once I get it working properly, I will attempt to use "in glass" antenna if I can find an adapter..............

    problems with audio

well the radio is up and running with road runner, using the bmw skin.. it works flawlessly, tuner is GREAT, rds kicks ***, mitch's cable came quickly and works like a champ.... BUT, im still having the same problem where the sound is only coming out the front speakers, anything playing from the hard drive (mp3's, movies, gps) plays out all 4 speakers just fine and dandy.. I have a diamond 7.1 xtreme sound card, using 2 of the outputs for front and back speakers. tried using the line in and the mic in on the sound card to get 2 channel stereo.. no dice. I even tried inputting into the computers onboard sound.. mic and line in, still no dice..

someone has to have had this problem???? im about to break something.. sigh.. maybe i should have sprung for the sound blaster card?? anyone else using a sound card the same way I am?? what sound card are you using?? ill go buy it weds..

    many thanks, james

greatwhite, well, with a mast antenna as long as its grounded to the body well, should work great... does for me

hadalgo, you know its technically only 2 channel audio...
infact, mp3s and such is 2 channel audio, its most likey that winamp is set to mirror the front channels to the rear rear channels... i dont know for sure since im not a carpc person
    -Thanks

    Got mine working very nicely!
Im in Australia. Just letting other Aus people know that the FM sounds great. AM is still being worked on (USA uses 10Khz spacing and Aus uses 9Khz - so currently it can only tune to stations whose frequency is a factor of 10). So it cant tune to AM stations properly yet. I dont have mitch's cable, so im just using the LCD controller to tune for now. Sound is excellent though. Reception is much better than my Silabs so far. Will try it in a moving vehicle shortly.

I hooked the +12V & ACC together onto the car's ACC line, rather than connect the +12v with the battery. This way the device is only on when the car is running, and I dont care if the unit forgets its presets, as that will be stored in RR's settings file anyway.
Antenna extension mods also works pefectly .
