Some Q's I have not yet been able to solve.
Where exactly do presets get written to while using RR to control the unit?
Is it in a ini file on the PC? if so which file?
or is it a memory module in the tuner itself?

blk02si, its not in the tuner, the tuner doesnt have "presets" the upper level code manages that (ie RR)

I live in Melbourne, VICTORIA - Regardless though, all AM station freqs in Aus are factors of 9. I checked the first 5 or so and it works.
preset lists are stored in radio.ini in the RR folder.
Preset buttons will be labeled <PRESTNAME>.fm in the RR folder
i.e. BXX....."FMPRESET;<PRESETNAME>",""
Pico-ITX / XP Home with EWF-HORM / RR v12/02/2009 / Winamp v5.13 / RRMedia v1.2.2
Does anyone know why the Visteon requires constant 12v? Is it just to store the presets? I don't have easy access to constant 12v where I'm mounting, so just hoping I can be lazy and use switched?
BTW, Mitch, received my cable very quickly despite your announcement here that you were waiting on new supplies. Thanks for the quick service.
Kevin
wire it as colored, YELLOW = Constant, RED = Accessory
the tuner doesnt do presets, its the controller who does (RR)
you can be lazy, and do switched, because my control with turn it on/off via the DTR line
as long as the 12VDC is there before RR wants to control it

I'm beginning to think my issue is volume and not reception. I drive into an area with more stations today and received them all, but had to turn the volume all the way up to hear anything. The RDS even came in fine. I now think the "static" I hear is just the noise floor in my audio that I haven't worked out completely yet. The increase in volume (needs to be at 100%) to hear the faint radio just makes the usually inaudible noise sound like static, I believe.
I think I may have an issue with either the audigy 4 card or the kx drivers that I haven't found yet.
I still have to jumper the RCA's to see if there's a ground reference problem with the sound card (essentially, a quick way to check and see if mitch's mod to the rca ground is the issue) which may be resuting in the low volume output. I still find this unliklely to be the problem, but you never know!
I don't remember seeing anything in the manual about adjusting volume on the visteon unit itself.
It's almost as if a "gain control" or something similar is set really low on the unit. More to follow as I try to figure it out..............
Crappy weather where I am right now, so it'll be a couple days before I get back home (to the nice warm, dry garage) to troubleshoot it.
