Thread: HD Radio Cables READY!

Although I still cant tune to all AM stations yet - because our frequencies are at multiples of 9Khz not 10khz like in USA.

Few questions:
1) Is it possible to attentuate the volume coming out of the HD Radio? and control the volume on the unit? (My soundcard line-in does NOT link with windows mixer - therefore I cannot find a way to vary the volume/mute radio unless I leave RR and open the soundcard's own mixer panel and slide the gains manually = PITA and unusable in the final build.

2) The Radio Turns on fast enough when switching from Audio/Video to Radio mode, but seems to take a good few seconds before switching the radio off and going back to Audio/Video mode. Any one else experience this? Can this be improved?

have noticed this and because ur closing ports, muting volumes and running several other functions i doubt there's anything that can be done about this. I've learned to accept it

I might just buy another one so I don't have to take this one out of the mini-van when I need one for my truck.

the hd-radio.home.comcast cables do not seem to work with the Road Runner implementation any longer, they used to during the beat release, but no longer so you would have to embed the app from hd-radio.home into RR and that just gets fugly.

I have both cables, but can only use the mitchjs cable, as I do not have the hd-radio.home software.

Thanks Dave! I'm not using Road Runner (yet?), so maybe I can still choose between apps. So far my TruckPC project is just a bunch of dis-jointed programs on a laptop that I wrote using LabView. Most of my effort so far has been dedicated to a GPS system that uses Google Earth. I've just now started to think about the entertainment part.

I just snagged another Visteon from ebay for $15 + $15 shipping! I'm going to stick this one in my '69 Charger in place of the old FM Walkman which is plugged into an amp hidden under the dash. I can't believe how cheap these things gotten all of a sudden!

Still have trouble getting it to turn on. Someone said that you can hear the unit click when it turns on? I put power to the red and yellow and black went to ground. Do I need to have antenna just to get it to power up? Just wondering if unit is dead before I start the process of sending this thing back.

Try connect it to ur car power supply first - you can even connect it straight to ur battery terminals (because it has its own fuse). It doesnt need an antenna connected. You need to connect the power (yellow,red,black) and the LCD panel.
Although it actually 'clicks" on if the panel isnt connected.
The little power button (top right - on my visteon) should light up. Press it and you will hear a click and see the LCD come on.

Yeah just tried the battery terminals and I can't get it to turn on. I even unplugged the power connector at the unit and put my meter on it to see if it was getting power and it is so must be bad unit. Was thinking maybe the fuse was gone but couldn't see. Guess it is time to send it back. Thanks for the help.

Iceman, YES you can change the VOLUME of the RCA outputs
but im not sure how to add it to RR

GUINO, can do it lick-it-dy split, i set the level to the level i found works best
there is a SetVolume Method, takes a int 0-90
when the tuner is powered on, the volume is to be set, im my demos i use
75...
now i dont got source(anymore) to RR to tell you where it is
