Not that simple TC according to the quote below.

basicly u have TX from the pc, and TX from the display, both need to go to RX on the tuner

my 1st thought would be to bring em to ttl

course there could be collisions...and then the message would be lost

u could buffer the data... course now u got a microcontroller, and ram involed

u could also use ur pc... one comport the tuner, the other the controller
    and pass data...

    now u got to code

    So,

Figured out my reception problems. Working fine now.

    But...............

I discovered that the HD box (visteon) is a HUGE source of noise in the system, a noise I've been chasing for a while now.
I unplugged the RCA's form the box and the beeping/buzzing/static-y noise disapeared to a crystal clear silence. Plug the RCA's back in and the noise returns. Doesn't matter whether I unplug it at the visteon or the sound card. Unplug the visteon and the noise goes away. Plug it back in and my tormentor returns.
I originally thought I had a ground loop problem as it also followed the alternator as it changed speed on top of the beeping/static but after the RCA find I'm not so sure.

I get this noise whether on the radio or when playing MP3's.

The visteon is at least a foot away from any motors or noise sources and mounted independantly away from the sytem. The only connections are the serial cable and the RCA's. The whole system goes to a common ground through a grounding block on a dedicated 4 gage wire to a grounded stud. Believe me when I say the ground is "solid" both mechanically and electrically.

    Any ideas?

I'm using the line in on an augidy 4 soundcard and the KXDrivers.

And yes, I've done the RCA grounding modification as recommended in this thread. No Difference.

    Anyone?

I had the same problem. I think it's a ground loop. The visteon was sending all sorts of noise through the speakers (alternator and other beeping/static). When the RCAs were unplugged, the noise disappeared totally.

As a hunch, I opened the visteon, cut off the ground wire I soldered to the RCA jack and all the intereference vanished. The sound is now crystal clear.

I'm guessing that by grounding the visteon RCA jacks, I was introducing a ground loop. One ground where the visteon was grounded to the chassis and the second ground through the RCA jack to the radio which is grounded through the factory harness in a totally different location (and potentially a third ground if the PC and visteon weren't grounded at the same location).

Cut the RCA ground and see if that helps like it did me.

    Good tip!

    Makes sense too.

I'll give it a try as soon as the temps get a bit above -15C here...............

Too damn cold to be friggin' around in the trunk right now!

    Cheers

Heh, I had mentioned a while back that I had disconnected my RCA ground mod and ended up fixing my interference issue eventually. I don't know what the chances are that it alone solved it... but very interesting nonetheless.

I had sometime yesterday to put the HD radio in my Matrix by using the display controller (for testing). Man it sound sooo good. I haven't hear that nice of a sound for a longgggggg time. I have to modify existing antenna (amplified) power from the Alpine HU. The HU switch off the antenna power when not in radio mode. I have to use the remote on to power the antenna.

So far so good. My next move is to configure RR and use Mitch's cable to play around. Sometime down the road, I'll built the controller switcher to use between the PC and the display controller.
Yesterday I check local electronic store for some relay. The NTE R12 series relay with 4PDT cost 9 bucks a piece and I need 3 of them to switch 6 wires from the controller and 4 for the audio.

Im BACK!... WDW was great... sunday was a bit cold... the refurbed Haunted Mansion is AWESOME...

anyway.... ill be assembling and testing tonight, ill get everyone shipped tomorrow(1/23)

KCarPC75, my dll supports all 6 SUB channels...my HDRadio PCR doesnt... i didnt have any channels that did more then HD-2, so i didnt code it... if they report they have 6 sub channels (which is nuts.... at most they should be using is 3) the hdsub in rr should work fine, now in your example they skip HD-3, so maybe thats a issue...
i could explore it if i get a station like that... i think they got an error on thier part

    mitch
    -Thanks
