I think its just normal for Visteon to trigger on/off when the pc resumes hibernation or turns on. I guess the driver is just sending power and enabling the radio on/off at startup.

Nah, you can hear it clicking on and off several times. Mitch thinks it's windows looking for a modem or somethingo n the serial port.

YES... disabling the serialenum, will keep windows from looking for devices on that comport... and the radio wont click on and off...

now i use a ftdi based usb->rs232, so if you do too... just got to the windows devicemanager, and under the ports, find the comport in question, go to port settings...advance and uncheck the "serial enumerator" check box
that simple...

for onboard serial ports my guess it add the dword string
as described in this article

basicly, most onboard com ports are plug and play, so it will be in
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\A CPI
to find out which device look at
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\Serenum\Enum
it will list the devices that the serenum service is testing


for instance mine ACPI\PNP0501\1

so then back to the other key
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\A CPI\PNP0501\1

then do a SkipEnumerations dword key in the "Device Parameters"
set it to -1 (dec) or 0xffffffff

should do it... i will test mine...

the ftdi usb sure makes it easy

I have an FTDI chip based converter as well and will give it a spin and see if it works.

no more click click, not that it was a big deal anyway...

if you're using usb->rs232 like me (ftdi)
and unchecking "serial enumerator" in the control panel port settings advanced

Just gotta get it workng on my setup now.....

Just tested on my setup ;

mitch cable -> direct to serial on motherboard .. no more freaking

my key for com1 was:

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

The bolded part is what I added, may be different depending on system..
