Mitch, I never did see where you posted any how-to for the mod that we can make if we have the older cable, that will make the static thump go away?
Thanks.
GreatWhite, I'm afraid to ask if you've gotten the new antenna yet and hooked it up? Just hoping that your lack of news on it doesn't mean bad newsI have a glass antenna too, and my Visteon also produces less than desirable results on the reception end.

all u people with glass antennas...
99% of them will only ever work with the FACTORY RADIO!!!!!!!!
its just a fact!!!
i dont think any aftermarket companies make the right electronics to use glass antennas that exist in OEM world
maybe some bmw's/mercs have their electronics to the antenna outside the factory radio, and just require turn on power... i havent seen that in jap cars
i cant remember (and i used to be in car audio biz, for 10 years)
a glass antenna EVER working any good with aftermarket
its just that there is a bit of electronics inside the factory radio!!!

Mitch, I'm not sure if my post to GreatWhite prompted your post, but I was asking him if he had received and tested his new digital antenna that he spoke about buying a couple pages back in this thread. I was asking because I realize that I need to get something different as well, (since I also have a glass antenna) and I'm going to get the one he got if it works well for him. Not sure my post warranted 164 exclamation marks, but I love your cable nonetheless!![]()
its to get the point accross... this isnt the 1st post about glass antennas
i remember in the car audio biz, so many people whinning about their new radio isnt as good as their factory one, and they all had glass antennas

Yeah, 2006 VW Passat. The antenna leads are in the glass and there's also a diversity amplifier for it in the roof. The problem is (similar to what you said) the factory radio provides certain controls over the diversity amp that the aftermarket adapter clearly can't do. So I knew from the start I would have reception issues, but just thought I had to deal with it if I wanted to replace my factory HU. Enter the antenna that greatwhite has purchased, and I have my fingers crossed for the best I can in fact have good reception w/o a factory unit.
