well id have to make a service...

i already added something to RR, turns on a pin on LPT when RR starts, and turns it off when it stops or hibernates...

i cant easily test it... unless i can find a printer port connector, and solder in a LED

I'd rather have windows start it, thats why I was going to use ampctrl. My last option is just to put a damn on/off switch on the amp and turn it on after windows is running!

AMPCTRL will rid you of all of your problems..... Because my soundcard is USB, I have annoying pops during windows load.... I tried the timer delay thing on my PSU and it did nothing at all, because after 10 seconds my PC is still trying to load the 13 + USB devices. Using AMPCTRL sent me to heaven. I do have a slight sound when putting the car into hibernation or shut off, but it doesnt bother me at all. It is so faint.

hijack, are u not reading, unless u have a special version of AMPCTRL, we have no serial ports

course i could write a try app, that when run, turns on a pin of the LPT port
but i already added it to RoadRunner

you skiped some of my questions i asked too

1. your using a transistor?
2. are you using RoadRunner?

pontiac, how about just buy a usb to serial, connect the HD Radio to it

get one of these...

Yea I know, but i figured AMPCTRL would work on a LPT port also..... i left a message on the Digitalcar board, lets see what they say, maybe they have a way to use it on a LPT port.

If not, I'll just do the USB>Serial.

well, pointiac, i wrote 3 programs, err 2

i wrote a command line program to turn on/off PIN 2 of the LPT port
I wrote a simple service that turns on/off PIN 2 of the LPT Port

I added to ROADRUNNER to control any pin on LPT port

Ok, They just replied..... it only works with serial ports............ so the serial to USB is your best route. Also have you checked if maybe there is a header on the MoBo that will allow you to add more serial ports? Mine came with 2 ports, but also a plate that had 2 more serial ports, for a total of 4 serial ports.

Mitch, if it starts and stops the amp when RR starts/exits, that will be fine. I can do the wiring myself. So, if I wire the amp to any(?) pin to the LPT port, it will control the amp?

HiJack, nope. Only the one serial port. It's a Intel D201GLY2 MB.
