the "psuedo" solution involves winamps line-in plugin. Set winamps volume lower than u use it with audio (mp3) so that it essentially levels the sound from the HD unit.
Mitch, this isn't YOUR problem at all! Sorry if it came across that way.
Your cable cannot control the signal strength from the line out of the main unit. That is a line out set level (factory set). Your cable is just a channel controller. No no no no......I wasn't asking you as the "creator" of the problem. Just wondering if you or anyone else had a solution from being familiar with the unit. Right now, I have all audio matched, but the levels in the control panel are set as: Mp3 "max", XM Sat "middle", Visteon HD "minimal". From there, running RR, I can switch between all 3 and get pretty equal levels.
Run out of line-ins.I laugh at the thought......
I can have 4 separate line-ins ONBOARD.
My opinion is my own.

Again, you guys are looking at this from a software solution (actually, I think you see the same thing I do) and yes, that is how I get around it....however......
Hooking the HD controller up (not the serial cable), then running into line-in, then just unmuting the line-in (no boost, no frontend, no software) and finding a station on the controller, the volume level is way too high, as you state, about 5% to get usable sound. Yes, it can be fixed through software, but I am asking is there a way to drop that level down, either internally to the box, or attenuation between box and PC to have better audio control.
My opinion is my own.
i know exactly what ur askin and i know as of this moment there's no way. I was simply offering a temporary (and pain in the butt) solution. I wish we could control volume direction from the unit as well.

Yeah, I have all of them "evened out" right now and it works fine. But, if I accidentally hit that line in volume on the control panel, I'm going to break some windows along with what's left of my eardrums. Found out the other day that my speakers can handle it, even if I can't.
There has to be some device (probably been around for 20 years) that can be put inline that would attenuate that down without losing fidelity. Think we just have to go "old school" on it.
My opinion is my own.
yea.. a pot wired as a voltage divider

no no no no no....I'm not using the display. Just used it to define/explain the issue......that the high gain levels are not software related.
When running, I don't have any audio issues.Everything is evened out and running fine. I would just really like to have all inputs set to mid level in the control panel for greater range abilities.
My opinion is my own.
ur missing my point, I HAVE FULL CONTROL OF THE AUDIO LEVEL OF THE VISTEON!
