Hey Mitch...I switched mainboards and it needed a serial port adapter plate attached to the mainboard...
I installed one, but the Visteon radio isn't working. I hear it power on when I run your software, the port shows up, but it tells me there is a communication error and stops.
Maybe a non-standard pin-out on this boards serial port?
Here is the pinout...
1 DCD Data Carry Detect
2 SIN Serial In or Receive Data
3 SOUT Serial Out or Transmit Data
4 DTR Data Terminal Ready)
5 GND Ground
6 DSR Data Set Ready
7 RTS Request To Send
8 CTS Clear To Send
9 RI Ring Indica
Good or bad? What could be the matter?
BTW, Centrafuse doesn't even see the radio

Yup, I hear it click...
It searches the COM ports, then gives me 'communication error'

same thing happened to me when i put on my gps dongle. its usb, but uses a 'serial port' according to device manager. after that, i couldnt get it to work. did you run anything else like that?

If my GPS program was making the visteon click on/off when searching for my gps dongle, could this ruin anything in the visteon potentially? i havent tried the visteon on my other mobo yet, but just theoretically, could it have sent a bad signal or anything?
doubt it can "ruin" it, the gps program is just seaching comports for its puck

I'm having probs gettin mine to work right. Using the visteon and I can't get any sound when I use mitchjs' program. It does tune to stations though so it is connected the the hd radio. However, I can get sound in RR radio when I don't use the cable and just run it off the face.
Also, I can't control the radio in RR but I do have the latest RR release. I'm sure this is just some sort of audio input issue as far as getting the sound to work with the HD radio program. Not sure what I need to do to get control in RR.

u have to understand how audio works in windows
and i assume you have the rca's connected to the pc's line in
so its knowing how to use your sound systems MIXER
as for RR, latest release is vague
but in the rr.ini at the minimum you need:
radiomode=8
hdradioport=x where x is the comport its connected to
not to mention a skin that supports HD Radio would make it nice too
