Thread: HD Radio Cables READY!

My PC is as follows:

1 gig of ram
Visteon HD radio attached to Radioshack USB to serial
120gig hard drive
EBY701
Garmin 20x USB receiver
GMPC
Running RR latest build and DFX4
Win XP SP3

I noticed when I looked into the device manager the com port and printer port were grouped together as 1 com port. I always have used hdpcr to test the radio, and it works with the visteon display as well. Other then that, I don't know how else to troubleshoot this problem.

The only reason this is an issue for me is whenever the USB to serial comes back from hibernate, it clears the winamp playlist. I searched in the other forums and found it due to a hardware issue, so I tried hooking it up straight to the serial port to see if that would fix it. Other then this, it's just an annoyance and the cable does work.

the hibernation, winamp issue to me have NOTHING to do with each other...
winamp's playlist is saved in the winamp dir in the "winamp.m3u" file.. make sure its not set to read only

i dont know what you mean by printer and com port grouped as 1 com port...

but sounds like there is nothing to troubleshoot, just solve the problem...
sounds like the comport isnt free
i assume you dont have a printer...

use say hyperterm(or a better terminal program) and make sure the comport opens
and is free... if it its, hdpcr should simply work
(i use brays terminal [http://braypp.googlepages.com/terminal])

I'll try hyperterm and see if I can't figure out what's grabbing the com port. I can't see any other programs grabbing it as I have nothing else running, but I'll triple check anyway.

The reason I said it was that was because whenever I resume from hibernate, the moment the radio switches on, I lose the playlist. Otherwise, it would still be there. I'll also check to see if its read only.

if winamp cant save it, you're gonna lose it

what is the purpose of the RCA to 3.5mm cable? someone please explain. Also, did Mitch ever make the RCA to USB cable for an "IN" for those who ran out of "IN"s on their sound card? I'm trying to figure this all out before I buy a new USB sound card. I would rather use USB IN as opposed to LINE IN so I can plug in some other things that I need.

a audio to usb audio is a CODEC device, and i dont make anything related
due to the fact, im not happy with ANY of the existings USB CODECs

hI mitch, I was just trying to determine if I get the silverstone DAC if it would allow me to connect the visteon as well. I was reading that the silverstone would override any onboard line-in's or other sound card's line-in's. As for USB IN i was referring to one of your earlier post on page 1. Maybe I was confused. Anyway, could you verify what I just wrote if I can still use the visteon with a silverstone?

Ok... I have tried not using the winamp plugin. I am still getting a quick crackle in the speakers when RR loads. If i unhook the HD radio RCA's it goes away. At least it's somewhat isolated. I assume part of my problem to be that the line in is most likely not muted when not in use. I know you have no knowledge of the KX drivers, they are somewhat straight forward with some twists. The control over the level of the line in is the AC97 Level. I sitll here audio on line in even if the "line in" level in the mixer is muted (KX Mixer). I figure using winamp line in plugin would be benificial in my case. How do I get the "Adress" for the line in to enter into the RR settings and for winamp?
