No math involved. Basically there's one bit for each LED that lights up on the V1 display, and the software just turns on whatever "lights" correspond to each bit. So as long as you're getting real numbers on the display and not mixed up lights or something, everything should be OK...

Just a thought: you might try going with a higher resistor value than the 3.3K. Since the actual value is ~3.6K, the 3.3K might allow a little too much current to flow between the 12V and data. I don't know, but it might cause problems. If you can't find a 3.6K, it is probably better to go with a higher value rather than lower.

Happy to see someone got one of Jim's designs working. Now if only I could do the same...

If my next 6-transistor attempt fails, I'm going to have to seriously question my circuit building abilities and/or my V1's output signal.

Version 3.802, one thing i almost did, but luckily caught was my line splitter didnt have all the right pins, and not all cables have the pins either. But im guessing if youre building a six transistor design, you dont need me to lecture you...

I've got the concealed display, but I'm not planning on using it with this setup so I'm just going the resistor route.

I think 3.802 is also a v1.8 V1.... hmm..

Jim, what version V1 do you have? I'm thinking maybe the older V1s have a weaker output signal or something...?

drait - out of curiosity, did you try a splitter with the remote display and PC attached?

matchstick - have you noticed any excess bogeys where you usually get 4-6 bogeys with just the V1?

It's a 1.8 w/POP2, forgot the firmware rev but I'll check tomorrow. I just got it updated a month or two ago. It isn't the very latest with the euro updates but pretty darn close...

Been working on some of the updates to the software. Now I have it so you can resize the window to any size you want and everything stays in proportion. I also have it so that you can get rid of the window border. I am going to start working on the audio from WAV files soon. I also plan on an option where you can hide the mute, if you don't have a cable that supports it etc. And some other things...I'll let everyone know when I have a new release...
