yeah me too i got the v1 but holler if u want to sell the cable with mute functionality, i really own't be able to make one myself
Any of the guys that actually got this to work willing to sell a complete/modified setup to me? I have a few free hours, so I'll read through all the posts and see if it's possible with the limited resources that I have and my lack of skills in this area.
Someone let me know if they are willing to mod one for me. I currently don't own a v1, so I'm looking for a complete setup. Quote me a price via PM.....

ok, i have a quick Q. I see that the V1 wud interface with the PC through the serial port. How about people who have XM connected to the serial port. Is there any other way to get another serial port. I believe the desktops have two,.but how about for a laptop/.?

I hooked it up long enough to test the mute and test a radar source on it. It will involve removing a lot of panels to get the cable in, so i havent driven around with it yet, im saving that project till an open weekend, cuz im also installing am automatic shutdown controller and a dvd drive. Fun projects all lined up!Originally Posted by tj!2k4
There are USB to Serial adapters you can buy, such as http://sewelldirect.com/USBtoSerial....ch_type=searchOriginally Posted by minghi

excess bogeys? could be caused by not having shielding on the cable up around the V1 end.
Is this how you have your CT29A connected tj? While it should work in theory, there are quite a few serial-based things that won't work with the USB->Serial adapters.Originally Posted by tj!2k4
Not to say it can't or won't work this way.... but if it doesn't, there's always the TTL2USB solution as well (for minghi).
Some USB->Serial adapters (like Cypress) have non-functioning logic lines, so no power for the device. If that's the case, just tap into the 5V from the USB cable. You wouldn't get the mute function either.
No, mine is connected to a real serial port on the PC.Originally Posted by drait

maybe i'm missing something. in the schematic there's a blurb about "fooling" the v1 into thinking there's a remote display by connecting a 3.6k resistor in between the 12v line and the data line (plus, i'm assuming, all the other wiring that's supposed to go into the data line).Originally Posted by Curiosity
what's the difference between that and 'mute'? will the v1 still make noise even if the s1 (or another sw option) is controlling it?
why exactly would you lose mute functionality? does the ttl2usb option also not support mute?
